"Wow, 4 types of corn!" |
Okay, I had AIJBot write up its own version of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
If I had pictures to go along with this it probably would be more epic.
The Very Stupid Lemur
In the glow of the bomb an offensive briefcase rests on a leaf.
One Sunday morning the awful dry ice foamed up and -snork- out of the briefcase shot a fuzzy and very stupid lemur.
He started to beg for some respect
On Monday he slammed into one politician, but he was still stupid
On Tuesday he slammed into Nigeria, but he was still stupid
On Wednesday he slammed into Google but he was still stupid
On Thursday he slammed into the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope but he was still stupid
On Friday he slammed into Ninevolt the angry teapot but he was still stupid
On Saturday he slammed into
one aircraft carrier,
one shoe dispenser,
one caramel llama,
one thicket of cocaine,
one bathtub,
one Latvian embassy,
one fry pan of peanut butter,
one gelatinous door,
one erotic asparagus,
and one colostomy bag.
That night he had lupus.
The next day was Sunday again and the lemur ate through one sensual biscuit of lies and after that he felt an enormous aura of self-loathing
Now he wasn't stupid anymore -and he wasn't self-aware any more. He was a gluttonous, sequined lemur.
He started to build a glorious prison, called a vestibule, around himself. He froze like a coke float for more than a baker’s dozen of decades. Then one day he barfed reality during his prompt escape, and.....
He was a devout pencil sharpener.

This is so wonderful! Your title seems to imply this might be an ongoing thing. May there be more of these to look forward to?

So how did you get the bot to generate this? Did it work like a Mad Lib of sorts?
Oh ,and it looks like AIJBot should claim trademark to "Ninevolt the angry teapot." LOL

Yes, for this work I had to restrict AIJBot to the same kinds of structure as the original work it is based upon so the end result is more like Mad Libs than the other works AIJBot comes up with.
Oh it gets better though. If someone wants to help me with artwork I can use my Amazon publishers account to print up and distribute full size full color "children's" books of this. I have some ideas for the art but I have no idea how to illustrate some of this.

I would not have any objections to putting a lot of effort into doing art for these.

This doesn't even require funding on my part (apart from maybe ordering a proof copy of the book). All this would require beyond determining the dimensions of the book and making everything fit is the artwork. I think any image as a source is fine but after looking at the artwork in Eric Carle's books it looks like anything airbrushed slightly and/or filtered to look like it was made in pastel will be fine (in reality I think they are watercolor paint images but the pastel filter gives a similar look)
I have an idea in mind for the pose/look of the lemur, but I would probably need it to look like it was done in watercolor paint or something at the end stages. I'd like it with a glazed expression with arms/legs stuck out at odd angles and portray it jumping/flying to the side (and crash into everything). It should work fine except for the "Friday" page where he crashes into a whole array of stuff and abstract concepts.
I don't think there is any legal issue with doing this but I might need to be careful with the "slamming into Google" bit...maybe only show part of a logo/building or something even more abstract?
Also, as verified by Eric Carle himself, the font used in The Very Hungry Caterpillar is from the "Bodoni" font family. I'm not sure exactly which one he used since the ones I have look the right style but a bit wider and shorter than it should be...as an image I could stretch that, though. ELLE magazine does something similar for their title logo.
EDIT> Just a proof of concept, but:

It's a figure of speech.
And that is EXACTLY the art style that the book needs!
