Well, the generic banners (for licenses) I actually like, but that's just my opinion.
Maybe we could just use the generic banners on the long version songs (the same way the banners for the Long Versions of Let's Get Away, et al. were generic).

ok SM 3.9 is having some issues with the songs. I've dl'ed the file and unzip all the songs to one folder then move all the long ver songs to a seperate folder, but when I run SM I'm missing some of the short (DDR standard) vers songs. I've let SM load the songs and then went to options to reload songs/courses and still have same problem, has anyone ran into this problem?

Is it the licenses? Because only the long version simfiles were uploaded because the game doesn't actually contain a short edit, it just fades out but there aren't two song files for it.

I think it is some of the Licenses, I'll double check whats missing. well thats odd when i download the zip and look at the simfile catagory for it, it shows there are two song folders for each song, one for the short and one for the long.

Actually to play the short songs you must have the long ones (except for KOs, which have different cut), because the sm files specified the song file in the long version directory.
Ex. For Can't Be Tamed, the #MUSIC tag will be "../Can't Be Tamed (Full Song)/Can't Be Tamed (Full Song).ogg".
The reason you got errors is because you moved all the long versions to another folder.

Well done with the files guys, it's great to finally play these songs seeing as HP5 isn't out in the UK until next week.
A few thoughts though:
There is a horrible buzzing sound in the background of each audio file. I've had this myself in the past when ripping audio from DVDs. It's easily fixed as I'm sure you know, either by re-ripping from the game disc or applying an audio filter.
2) It looks really ugly having "Full Song" and "Short Song" on the songwheel like that. Seeing as short songs are the standard in DDR I see no need to advertise these, so perhaps you should only use the subtitle on the long versions. Oh, and put it in brackets. "(Full Song)" looks SO much nicer and is as heck of a lot easier to read.
3) Banners. People have made some great banners based on the album covers, so use them!
Thanks again guys, great work.

Thats strange I'll have a look at the issues present, the banners were Alan's idea. I wanted to keep the other ones!

All short simfiles (DDR II license songs to be specific) that used long version audio are automatically counted as long (2 stages) while playing SM.

So in other words they can't be seperated. Well F*ck. I was hoping to have two seperate folders, but it looks like the idea went out the window. I'll fix it. Thanks for the info.

Personally I'd tag it according to how the game shows it - unless short and full versions are in different game modes?

Nothing stopping you from copying the audio to the "short version" folder and editing the #MUSIC tags accordingly.

I actually converted .ogg to .mp3 and then cut the full length track to the proper length and then faded them out. Takes at most 5 mins for each song.

Both long and short versions are the same entry on the song list; when you select the song, you then select the length.

deltaMAX has that feature. Only one file has the video but it plays on both.

lol no I was talking about DDR II. No version of Stepmania can represent short and long versions in the same way DDR II does.

I think it's because they use .ogg than .mp3Post #237 · Posted at 2011-11-21 11:37:42am 12.5 years ago

Understand, but the arrows will not alter the short versions?

No. Nothing will happen to the short versions besides becoming playable.
