How difficult would it be to run Stepmania 5.0.11 on Windows XP, I tried it once and it wouldnt load, I dont remember what the error was, but I'm stuck on 5.0.6 and i need some bug fixes, the game crashes after about a week with an error saying too many open files. The PC doesnt have alot of memory (1GB) and limited gpu support on windows 7 so i dont really want to upgrade the OS.

AFAIK every StepMania 5.0 builds have the same minimum requirements. So if you can play it fine with older version, then there's no problem.

XP support was dropped. sillybear was apparently able to build on XP by changing the compiler target. So you could try compiling it yourself.
