Maybe you guys should use simpler titles next time...?

Anyway, here's a file. Not sure if I can get a second one in like I wanted (I have to prioritize in votes, I want those 21 points...!) but here.


This song is so good. No really, you should listen to the full version sometime if you have 4 minutes to spare.

I found it from this video; Apparently it's been out for 3 years and I can't come up with an explanation for why no one thought to step it until now! In any case, here it is.

The 11 challenge chart is monstrously technical, with the drop being filled with wave gimmicks and the part after that having what I concluded is 96th swing. That's right. I had to listen to that part so many times over again to see if I should use 24ths, 64ths, 16ths, 192nds... It was very confusing but I think I have it down. Hopefully. Please it enjoy it, it's one of my favorite charts I've made and overall kinda represents the stepping style I tend to go for.

Rolls were added after I finalized the charts and carefully added to the .ssc only.

Now please, please, no stupid logistics error like the past 5...

I didn't even realize it was still wrong in the vote tally, I just copied & pasted from whoever posted votes before me and assumed it was finally correct by that point without actually double checking to make sure.

If it means anything I at least had it right in the code block.

Bad news, dipthongs! I was editing my chart tonight, didn't save it every 15 seconds like I know you're supposed to, and about an hour and a half in, my SM crashed!

Yeah it's entirely my fault yeah I should've saved more frequently, but this is a note that I might not end up submitting my charts like I thought I would.

If I had any critique for this week's theme, it's that it's entirely too strict, especially for novice gimmickers like myself. But to be fair, it's probably supposed to be really challenging, so I'm actually complaining about nothing. I think it's actually the best theme so far this summer, though, because we actually have to try stepping things differently than we normally would. So that's cool. I want more weeks like these, just maybe not as challenging >_<

I feel guilty for withholding this information for so long, but if anyone is still having troubles with stutters and waves, Mudkyp's guide should be of assistance to you.

A couple things to note about Scatman (Short Splitter RMX). (This could turn into a full advertisement in the future.)
-The subtitle is made up, as I shortened the song from over two minutes to just 52 seconds.
-I adjusted the bass/treble so that hopefully the song isn't as grating to your ears, though the only very harsh part is the beginning.
-After creating the first chart, the low note count reminded me of a song from DDR CLUB MIX. This might help to explain the difficulty spread, especially on doubles.
-As I noted in the description, the SSC file is there for split timing, as the stutter section has breaks so that the 16th notes on the chart (and the doubles ) don't go offsync. Since they aren't in any other charts, split timing removes any breaks and makes the whole section stutter. This could possibly change if I find an accurate quantization for the 16ths that go to the stutter. (It turns out, the stop time length is the same as the span of a 16th note, so it's impossible to sync it correctly with the stutters intact.)

I think Vincent's chart was just the right difficulty for this particular song. Your chart went overboard with the difficulty and I swear at times some of your rhythms were "made up". A bunch of 16ths didn't sound like they actually went to anything in the song (or sometimes they did but it was extremely faint and near unnotiecable) and that kind of thing bugs the crap out of me. Then there was also this part:



No matter how I treat those first 5 notes, I always end up in an awkward position. If I do a full spin, I have to do suddenly spin back the other way to hit those 16ths, and the speed I have to do that in just wasn't very fun at all IMO. If I do a footswitch on the first two consecutive down arrows, I'll be forced to double-step later anyway. There's also the matter of, once again, those 16ths you stepped don't actually exist in the song. I can hear a guitar riff but it's not playing 16th notes, so something like this just didn't make sense to me.

I'm gonna have to say that coolpeaches' chart wasn't all that bad. Yes, some 16ths felt arbitrary and that part is confusing (vincentw said to me that freeze at m23 should be extended half a beat down) but I personally enjoyed the rest of the chart and file.

Still have 6 files to go (all difficulties, including those two files with doubles) but votes should be coming tonight if all goes well!

As far as pattern choice goes the part I posted a screenshot of is really the only bad part. But the arbitrary 16ths really grinds my gears and there's very few times where I think it works, in this case I personally thought it didn't work. Sorry if I seemed harsh on the file, I just really don't like when a stepchart uses a lot of arbitrary ghost notes.

[Gimmick Week]

I'm gonna be honest. I'm not happy at all how this chart came out. I offered this song up as a choice for collabs last week to Feraligatr and Lisek, but it didn't vibe with them. I can see why now. But, without further ado, let's get into this mess.

This is a chiptune song I found a while ago by dakimaki, also known as Moe Shop. It sounded cool to me (especially the gradual speedup at one point) and I thought it was going to be a great chart but it turned out to be a headache for calculating. The challenge chart used to have a huge 24th burst, but it came out of nowhere so I took it out.

I probably went through 5 different cuts of this song to make it under 2.5 minutes, but I'm still not satisfied. I wish I hadn't started something like this. If anyone gives me any points this week, I'm eternally grateful.

Even though this week was my theme, I regret doing it now since it was at the same time as university starting. Sorry again to those who didn't have time to make a song for this week.

OK BYE I HAVE TO WORK ON PHYSICS AND CODING HOMEWORK LOL
