I would love to have an android app for ziv, especially for the arcade locator and the score tracker.
How amazing would it be to take a picture of the screen and have an app that automatically parses your score from the image?

There is/was an android app, but I doubt it's still being worked on
Edit: Just checked and the link for the APK is dead.

While I admit that's quite cool, I think recognition like that would be quite complicated. Especially considering each and every game has different layouts and fonts for the results screen. Also, would it detect song banner/jacket too? Otherwise you'd have to manually input that in, and then there's no point in the score recognition because you could just put that in too while inputting the song.Post #4 · Posted at 2016-05-22 11:41:42pm 7.9 years ago

"touch n go ride the flow" |
I talked about this a while ago on the ZIv chat.
If there was an iOS/Android app, it could have many useful features.
1) Push notifications for replies on subscribed threads and PMs and such.
2) Location Services so you can find an arcade machine nearby.
3) Arcade updater so you can quickly update the condition of an arcade machine or the pricing.
These would be some really neat features to have in a ZIv app.
Or, you know, we could just clean up the mobile version of the site...

"Prepare for disappointment" |
It would make it easier to enter your scores. I have to transfer my score pictures to my computer because I save them in a folder so I can make space by deleting them off my phone for more room on my phone. From there, I upload them to ZIv via computer.

Then you can calculate the skew on it to more accurately parse the rest of the info. That said, at the end of the day I don't really know what I'm talking about.
Either way, just having an app with the arcade locator and basic data entry would be loads better than my current method of score entry, which is to enter them all in batches when I get home. I'd much rather have an easy way of entering them while resting between sets.

It be nice to have. But overall, it might be more work then its worth. Phones and iOS/Android update so much crap so often, I fear we'd need to re-update an app almost every few weeks just to comply with "security" updates these OS's have. Although maybe its easier then I think, not sure. Perhaps even simple "Bookmark" linked icons might be a start in a basic sense. Ya never know,
