DDR is absolutely dead in Poland outside of anime conventions and near sea arcades during summer season.

Honestly, I think DDR died in the US mainstream in 2008. That was the last I saw major press coverage for a new game, and the critical response to it (notably the IGN rating of a 5.4) gave off the public impression that it was a series that was both a dinosaur of an older era and was trying in the most pandering way possible to be relevant (of all years to have the urban theme and bring in Ozomatli to announce...). The release of Just Dance and the growth of the American button rhythm game bubble (Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and Rock Band along with their 3rd party competitors) were the last straws. No one really covered DDR 2009, I may have seen 1 or 2 reviews of 2010, and I literally heard diddly about DDR II outside of our own community.

As for in Japan, it's not exactly dead, and I wouldn't say it's on death row just yet, but it's definitely sustaining as opposed to growing. Additions of actual new content not implemented across BEMANI have become increasingly sparse, though we appear to have a team who are writing consistently good charts again as opposed to the weird era around 2014 and early 2015.
