13:18:54 · -Viper-: We need a "hash it out" thread where people just call out people they have a problem with and fight

Let the fights begin. Blame Viper for this, not me.

Anyway, I have a problem with everyone in the chat for not telling me what font is at the top of this jacket.

Come at me, bros.

I don't think that's a font, couldn't find any evidence of it being so even from people discussing it online. I think they just homebrewed pixel letters for the purpose of their promotional materials.

I've got issues with people who think this thread was a good idea. Nobody likes being the butt of an insult.

NOTE: Before you hate on me, keep in mind that I think that themers do have potential. It's just they waste their talent. Also, before you lecture me with "Oh, you haven't made a theme. How can you criticize them?", you don't need to be a 5-star chef to know that a dish is bad, or you don't need to be a Hollywood director to know Battlefield Earth is bad.

Most SM5 themes suck

Firstly, the amount of DDR themes. Look, DDR themes are fine in small doses however, the majority of SM5 themes (or at least, what I have seen), are DDR themes, and not just fan made themes (eg. DDR Forever or DDR Supernova 3), direct copies of existing DDR releases!

But sometimes, original themes are created. They all have their own noticeable problems.

Default:
The default theme is an eyesore. There is so little in it, but I also can't get over the font used is upscaled so large for its size, it shows as low-resolution.

DDR Supernova 3:
DDR Supernova 3 is a step-up from a carbon copy ddr theme, and there is a massive amount of effort put in but, it's DDR-related.

UPSRT:
UPSRT is compelling, but a novelty demo to see what can be done with Stepmania 5, which is just a painful reminder that most themers are wasting their talent.

Cadmium:
Cadmium is nowhere near complete, and when and if it is complete, no one will take interest due to the fact that it isn't DDR/ITG themed enough, nor is it made by anyone significant enough to gain any attention.

Project XIX: Laconia
Laconia's creator has faded into obscurity, thus not getting enough attention it deserves. Also, IIDX themed, but there is effort that has been placed in it.

Metro Quad X:
Metro Quad X is an eyesore. I am fully aware the themer wanted to add a large number of information, but this was excessive. Also, forcing a player to do this setup is annoying. If we want to change the settings, I'll go to the options page. I mean, what was so hard with setting defaults? I'll admit, the centred song wheel and the banner at the top of said song wheel was a welcome change of convention, I suppose.

Barebone:
Barebone is, well, a barebone theme. Not much to talk about

Touhou Hisotensoku:
Touhou Hisotensoku is a niche theme for the Touhou fandom. Also, the lack of proper 16:9 support sucks.

Simply Love:
Simply Love is just a port of an existing theme, but tbh, the minimalism of Simply Love is minimalism done well, I suppose.

Sigma: The Blue Dasher:
Sigma: The Blue Dasher is a really well-made theme, but the controls are awkward.

[url=http://cyberiastyle.skr.jp/cyberiastyle/cyberia_la/index.html]CyberiaStyle LA:
CyberiaStyle LA is, again, a well made theme, with many exclusive features, but is quite resource-intensive.

Consensual:
Consensual seems more to be a demo theme for many features that other themers should implement.

Obelisk:
Obelisk is really bland and uninteresting. Using a DDR classic songwheel with jackets was kinda cool I suppose.

Every SSC Theme:
Even the SSC doesn't care about their own themes.

So, in conclusion, themers do have a talent in theming, they're just not showing their full potential.

SM5 Themers need to wake the heck up

Eh, I've had trouble finding a good theme as well. I've stuck with Obelisk for now because the simplicity is better than dealing with something broken. Any good non-DDR themes you recommend for SM5?

"five minute white boy challenge"
Suppose there were an experience machine that would give you any experience you desired. Superduper neuropsychologists could stimulate your brain so that you would think and feel you were writing a great novel, or making a friend, or reading an interesting book. All the time you would be floating in a tank, with electrodes attached to your brain. . . . If you are worried about missing out on desirable experiences, we can suppose that business enterprises have researched thoroughly the lives of many others. You can pick and choose from their large library or smorgasbord of such experiences, selecting your life's experiences for, say, the next two years. After two years have passed, you will have ten minutes or ten hours out of the tank, to select the experiences of your next two years. Of course, while in the tank you won't know that you're there; you'll think it's all actually happening. . . .

So. . .Zenius . . .
Would you plug in?
