The difference is Yu Suzuki isn't inherently making it a point to stop Americans and Europeans from playing his game.

Why do I see this coming on Steam...lol. Hey, It could happen...But seriously, This is something I would definitely buy...with money (if Konami's not a dick and forces people to be in Japan/Asia to play this) .//
Updated that quote with a bit more accuracy; if they're making this a game where you have to pay for the game and/or DLC tracks, they're gonna have to make sure it's accessible everywhere, and you're able to use real money instead of Paseli. Otherwise, 98% of the users on this forum are not gonna be able to play this, and it would be a damn shame. :/

I've traversed this e-AMUSEMENT CLOUD site, and it certainly looks like PASELI will be the medium through which your "currency" lies. Since beatmaniaIIDX INFINITAS will be using this service, it is almost inevitable that PASELI will be a vital necessity to enjoying the game to the fullest. From what I've been analyzing, it appears that the final build won't be a free download (which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering that we'll have the base game); the payment system, on the other hand, looks to be a new barrier, not to mention, the seemingly online-only aspect. I wonder where Konami would put this game for sale anyways....Konamistyle or buy directly through your e-Amuse account?
As of right now, an e-AMUSEMENT CLOUD "24-hour play" campaign is going on for 3 online games (Mah-Jong Fight Club, Tenkayichi 2, and OTOMEDIUS) [all of which require PASELI to play], which leads me to believe that beatmaniaIIDX INFINITAS may suffer that same fate. We can only hope that beatmaniaIIDX INFINITAS stands as a separate entity among the other e-AMUSEMENT CLOUD games allowing gameplay without the web-browser limitations...the alpha version is 2GB thus far; perhaps the final build will be over 5GB, thus widening the possibility of having access to the game outside of the e-AMUSEMENT CLOUD with the exception of your scores and collected FRICO (or whatever points) not being saved unless logged in. But that's a long pipe dream.

I remember begging on ddrfreak for Konami to release more DDR in the USA for the Playstation. There were people who said it would never happen, that the licensing was an issue, that Konami didn't care, that Americans are too fat, and that the game was too niche. But then after MAX2 the series exploded and the sequels were automatically green-lit for the next 10 years. And actually the American games were produced with much bigger budgets than the matching Japanese games had. The American games led the way in new features plus we got more licensed music. (Sorry, Europe, your games weren't as good.)
I also remember being part of the crusade to get IIDX 7th released. Same story again and it happened right after. People thought that IIDX was dying, or that Konami didn't care and only wanted to release only AAA titles (lol), and that the home versions were inferior anyway. Strangely, Konami themselves started a web petition (those never work) to get IIDX 7th CS released. They said that if we got 10,000 signatures they'd make the game. We got there easily, but then Konami turned around and said "okay now we need 20,000 preorders." People howled! That's not fair! But we got the preorders easily. Then we learned the final price was 7500 Yen!! OMG that's the most expensive PS2 game ever fuck you Konami amirite? People definitely said that, but it was no problem. Then 8th. And 9th. And really the only reason they stopped was because after the PS2 there hasn't been another platform as popular, since. (Arguably, iOS.) (Windows and Android may have millions of claimed users, but most of those users literally never install software or games, paid or otherwise.)
Making snarky posts is still helping. You're at least talking about the game and expressing interest. The only way to hurt the cause would be to quit cold-turkey and go get lost in Hearthstone. But vague pessimism doesn't contribute either unless you make it at least about the game itself. Licenses are expensive? They'll be paid for. Konami can't take American credit cards? Soon they will. The game is in Japanese? It'll be translated like Pendual into Korean. Konami doesn't want to publish PC games or non-mobile games? Apparently not. None of these things are actually problems. How about that DDR location test? Is it going to fail because D&B doesn't have Internet? They got some. Now they don't have e-amuse cards? They'll get some if they buy the game. None of these worries are holding the games back.

It's not blind pessimism when Konami has a LONG track record of making Bemani games practically inaccessible to non-JP players.
This is a "I'll believe it when I see it" thing.

No, what's happening ITT is that you made a shitty, hyperbole-laden post and are trying to save face by calling it "harsh reality".
