Exactly, I have disabled Course mode with DDR 2013 beta theme until our last release in SM3.9+.

SM 5 still enabled COURSE MODE.

"Just Play Along"
Apparently all the dedicated videos for the songs DDR EXTREME and older have been added to the site's official simfile page, even those that reuse their DDR EXTREME background videos in DDR 2013, which means my re-scripted .sm files aren't really necessary anymore. Should I remove them from the main thread or keep them?

Thanks for the compilation!
I was wondering if someone might know how to configure the keymaps.ini file, so in a DDR arcade gabinet the arrows in the dance mat cannot be used for option selection. I was able to do it in Stepmania 3.9 but the keymaps file is different now, so, I am not really sure what to do =S

In the other hand, I have the following judge window timings, which I find much more related to an arcade machine:

TimingWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
TimingWindowSecondsHold=0.250000
TimingWindowSecondsMine=0.131666
TimingWindowSecondsRoll=0.500000
TimingWindowSecondsW1=0.015625
TimingWindowSecondsW2=0.031250
TimingWindowSecondsW3=0.062500
TimingWindowSecondsW4=0.078125
TimingWindowSecondsW5=0.093750

Please feel free to try it out.

Thanks!

If you're disabling the dance pad for menus, find the "Only Dedicated Menu Buttons" preference and turn it on.
Make sure you map keys to the MenuLeft and MenuRight buttons.

GENERATION 24: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.

That's very interesting. I will try these out later. How did you come up with these timings? Any math involved?

I used mine primarily for our arcade cab that mimic DDR AC timing. They are based on DDR EXTREME AC frame-based data but used 65 instead of 60 frames because using 60 is "too easy" in StepMania. It could have been agreed to use 70 as base but our local pro players complained and said they were very strict.

TimingWindowSecondsHold=0.250000
TimingWindowSecondsMine=0.092308 <--- same as W5
TimingWindowSecondsRoll=0.375000 <--- equivalent to stepping all 8th notes
TimingWindowSecondsW1=0.015385 <--- 1/65
TimingWindowSecondsW2=0.030769 <--- 2/65
TimingWindowSecondsW3=0.061538 <--- 4/65
TimingWindowSecondsW4=0.076923 <--- 5/65
TimingWindowSecondsW5=0.092308 <--- 6/65

Value doesn't matter for W5 because anything past W4 is considered a Miss judgment.

Thanks man! I was sure I tried that out, but I guess I didn't since it worked today. Thanks!

In my case, it is part math, part music, since, according to AC versions of the game, the shortest note to edit was a 32th of note, hence this would be a perfect note so I just divided it between 64

Also, as mentioned by @razorblade, I tried also dividing by 70, but in stepmania 5 themes, it is really strict, but I don't really know why, but under stepmania 3.9, dividing under 70 seems to be a better judgment

That does seem to make sense. Have you tried posting that in this thread?

One thing I can't quite figure out though is how to get mines to have the same timing window as shock arrows in DDR.

I tried each of the noteskins from the DDR X2 thread that NRG linked, and none of them crashed. What exactly did you do when adding those noteskins? If you deleted the default noteskin, that is your problem. The engine requires the noteskin named "default" to keep from crashing when stuff is missing from other noteskins.

How DDR 2014 (and every game since SuperNOVA) backgrounds work is that a fully rendered 3D dancing stage or arena is shown with a select dancer in the middle doing randomized choreographies along with random camera angles. Starting with DDR X2, some stages have background videos playing in some areas of the stage as screens, and the choreographies were updated. Since such a thing is next to impossible to pull off on StepMania 5, users have resorted to taking screen captures of each stage with each dancer, cropping out the HUD and using EDITS of songs with no arrows. They do this using emulators. These videos can be played as random background videos like in DDR EXTREME, but the theme is modified to play only one at a time and to start them as soon as the gameplay screen appears just like in the arcade. This is done with two .zip files which are in the DDR 2014 theme's thread. Select songs have dedicated background videos though, and remove on-screen dancers in exchange for a full-screen video. Most of these are offered in the simfiles section along with their respective simfiles. Unfortunately, since there was never a PS2 version of DDR 2014, some stages and characters cannot be recorded properly, so they are harder to find.

To sum it up, In DDR 2014 there are no RandomMovies like in DDRMAX-EXTREME. There are either 3D stages with dancers, dedicated videos, or 3D stages with dancers and screens playing a dedicated video. I hope this helped clear things up Smile

Nope, i do not delete anything on NoteSkins Directory, i just put the noteskins of X2 there. :/, actually, when i play with default noteskins, everything works okay.
