I'm actually pretty tempted to get it, and do appreciate them actually trying something different when many Activision franchises typically get accused of stagnation, so this is a nice change of pace.

I'm not fully on-board with the fact that you can never fully own any of the DLC tracks, but at least they've made it easy and flexible to play them if you want to, even if it's not super convenient; at least you can do so for free.

I imagine one of the issues surrounding music game "platforms" is that DLC can typically be so divided from the core game, that many people barely touch it, thus it makes no real money for the publisher or the bands/studios who licence it out and want it to be promoted. The radio-style "music video channel" idea is a nice attempt to mitigate these issues, even if it does have the previously stated drawbacks.

I'm curious to see how this pans out.

So me and a few other users have discovered some slight issues with the guitar. Strumming, specifically down strums, seem to either be dropping or coming in late, which has a definite impact in a timing-oriented game.

From how this is sounding, it might not be the guitar's fault, but the wireless dongle's fault; the controller connects via, apparently, Bluetooth Low Energy (given that apparently it can link right to an iOS port), and some people are saying that connecting the little dongle right to the console is causing interference or something, and suggested attaching it to an extension cord. Thankfully, we ended up buying a whole bunch of Wi-Fi dongles when we moved into this house, so we still had a few extension cord stands for them. I'm going to give it a try and see if that changes anything.

I want to play this, but I'm wondering if I need to buy a guitar to play this on Android (I haven't found any information about the Android version sadly)

I think I'm one of the few people that actually like the songlist (but I still want to figure out how do you play Feel So Close on guitar...)

Maybe they'll release a patch soon if there's a lot of people reporting the same issue?

So, GH got timing now? Last time I checked, that wasn't a thing.

Basically, it's the synthtar for half, and the piano for half...the PIANO?! Freestyle Games, if y'all are resorting to that, you chose a bad song for this game! You lose your EDM license!

there still sort of IS timing (it's still only yes or no, but the strumming latency issue still hurts the game in general.

This person's issue is similar but not quite like mine

Lag in the strumming of a Guitar Hero game? Fuck off, Freestyle.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

you thought that one was messed up? I Want You To Know is even worse. It feels like a bizarre mix between a Guitar Hero chart and a Beatmania chart.

Also, for continuing updates on Strumgate,

I've never really bothered with Guitar Hero because I didn't like the punk style of the early series, but the new interface is very nice. I tried the game at a Target Demo for the first time and did okay, clearing all the demo songs on 'Regular' difficulty and a 3-Star Ranking. (How good is that for GH standards?) I might consider picking up the PS3 version if it ever gets a discount.
