Dang, heh, one thing I always did when going down to visit family in Florida was go there - see they finally sold it off. it seems... Even with it being utter shit at times, it was fun playing right in front of a huge window, and getting a large crowd.

Only machine in close range of me is a SuperNOVA at a movie theater and that one isn't fairly used so idk why the monitor on it has a messed up color palette and that's really the only machine I can think of that's in Chula Vista other than the Brunswick Bowling SuperNOVA.
A Dave and Busters has a SuperNOVA 2 but they moved that to the back so it doesn't get much attention anymore in replacement of the Pump It Up EX (i think) which took its place so I wouldn't be surprised if they sold the machine or just throw it out. (No one really even played it when it was smack dab in the middle)
The Sycuan mall has a DDR Extreme but I rarely go there anymore so I don't know the condition of the machine, last time I went there it seemed perfectly fine but that was when I was starting out and didn't pay much attention to the pad condition and monitor condition of it.
SeaWorld has an X2 that is literally perfection but it's SeaWorld so you gotta pay to get in and pay for the game card in the arcade. Only played it once and it's a dedicab too.
(Fresno)
The Sierra Vista Mall (idk if that's even the right one) has a DDR Extreme, they used to have a Max 2 but that most likely got thrown out. They have a GuitarFreaks and a DrumMania but that DrumMania WILL get thrown out eventually since it's been down last time I went.
Boomers has two Extremes, they rarely get played and aren't in the best shape, the Extreme closest to the entrance has the marquee of a 5th Mix and the pads just suck.
I think Blackbeards has an ITG and an Extreme but I haven't been there for a very long time so they're either still there but in really bad shape or thrown out completely.
(San Francisco)
I went to San Fran once and went to this arcade called Metro or something and they had beatmania and DDR, and quite a lot too but I'm pretty sure it got closed down. I loved that place as a kid and would visit again had they not closed down.

Buggu! You live in San Diego too? I do too, I've played at that SuperNova that is in the AMC you are talking about. The colors are so bad and the pads get weird. Have you been to Boomers in Clairemont? There's an Extreme and a Max2(monitor not working) up there

I'm very lucky - live near a couple of places - one that has a SN dedi, and had it ever since SN first came out, one that has an ITG2 dedi and EXTEME, and one arcade that has 2 SN2 machines, an ITG2 upgrade cab that has seen tender loving care, PIU Pro, PIU Zero, DDR EXTREME, and an EXTREME Plus bootleg.
Just wish that they would put a warning sign or two to have parents keep their kids from running across the pad mid-song - or at least absolve the player of responsibility should a kid run across, trip, and faceplant into the floor.

Wow, I thought San Diego didn't have many BEMANI players. Guess there's a couple scattered all over the city.
I think I've seen that Boomers once or twice but never got to go. Definitely will check it out.

He converted it into an Open ITG machine and completely cleaned out the pads and got new sensors.
It's been 3 years since that day, and to this very day they still work flawlessly. With that proof, his machine is probably the only machine in all of Tampa Bay/Hillsborough County that has never had much maintenance and can still work.
You know, I see that as less and less machines pop up, there are those who want to get machines for their own private use, and in turn we are starting to slowly see the death of the 'general' arcade while seeing a growth in home/multi-entertainment complex/bar arcades.

They started disappearing in my area. I live a fair few miles out, but there were only 5 I knew of. 2 EM2s, 2EM1, and a Dancing Stage Fusion. (I'm in UK). Now there's only 1EM1 and 1EM2, both are in the opposite directions from where i live.

Oh, the one at D&B is really getting worst, well it plays nice when it wants to. I went last night, they turned off the marquee sign. I've only met a couple of people, one girl who was getting her friend into the game and she was building back her stamina. But she lived up towards Poway, where there is an ITG in the nickel city, but good luck trying to get on that machine. It's almost always busy with people, like they must plan days that they play and go there.
Then, I met a guy and girl at that Boomers I said above there. They were really nice and I asked if they knew more people or if they had known of other good machines(that doesn't require you to pay admission like seaworld to play their X or X2, not sure which they said were there). I've seen plenty of machines in town, but they are so crappy! that I won't even put them on the arcade portion of this site.
I thought I saw a site called fun 4 all that said they had an extreme, I haven't checked out the condition of it yet. Do you want to plan times to play? It would be up to you

I'm from San Diego, and I've dropped by a handful of arcades across the city, and honestly, I'd say there's still plenty of functional DDR machines, as well as a decent community to supplement them. I'm pretty sure all of the Boomers locations in San Diego County still have their DDR cabinets, plus other places such as Parkway Plaza in El Cajon. There's an R21-compatible ITG machine at Nickel City (now in Miramar), which still attracts a lot of competitive players based on my recent experience there.
I agree the D&B Extreme is pretty bad. The ones at Boomers, at least in El Cajon and Clairemont, are much better.

Is there a good community still? I just see random people here and there. I have talked to a few and tried to make time to go out and do a session with them. Other than that, I don't see a lot of people around, I am hoping to meet random people who knows others that have private cabs where they do parties in the garage. I've known people back at home that did those types of events.
The Boomers in Clairemont has the only decent machine that I have experienced, their Max2 screen is still out. Parkway Plaza, the machines are downhill now, there was an really good extreme in Tilt and I went there about a week ago and the pads were trashed, which was disappointing. Then there's that one in the Regal area, which is...okay. The Boomers in El Cajon was bad unless they fixed it, I went to that one about thanksgiving/Christmas time.
I've been to nickel city and yeah, there was someone just recording themselves the entire time there. I'm not really a big fan of ITG and I can't really sure why.
I am going to LA this weekend, so I hope to find some good arcades to play at.

Yeah, I totally agree with you #Infinity. It looks like a dedicated group that comes and plays on the ITG machine. It was sort of the same thing back home, there was a group that would write on FB about when they were going and asked who was all going when they went to play ITG.
Most of the DDR machines, some kid is trying to run across the pads or it's empty. Which is yay for me sometimes cause I can play the lengthy sessions till I am content but sad cause sometimes my wife won't play as well. And the skill set has been all over the place each time I find someone new, which makes me happy cause I am not a super expert player.

It was never in the best condition, but the closest machine to me is no longer there. Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont, CA, an Extreme Cab that wasn't unlocked for the longest time, then finally unlocked maybe 1-2 years ago.

Player 1 side worked fine, player 2 would drop freezes for left/right. No screen issues but sound was low.

Machine at danbury amc is gone.
The machine that was at the Brass Mill Center in Waterbury was also gone the last time I was in the area, like ~8-ish months ago.

I'm thankful the SuperNOVA machine in my area has stuck around for the past nine years, otherwise there'd be no machines in my area for miles. There used to be a 3rd mix machine also with a bootleg Extreme installed, but nobody seems to know where that ended up..
Arcades are a fast-dying market in the US with mobile gaming and such, so it's no surprise arcades and such are being downsized

In Chile, Many arcades are remplaced by slot machines and this is bad. In Quilpue, Chile, 2 DDR machines (both a SN2 and an Extreme machines) are found here.
