Hi there!

Before I ask my question, I want to let everyone aware that I did try to find my answer in all of the threads which are quite helpful.
Unfortunetly, I'm still a bit confused.

I just got a 8th Mix (Extreme) DDR full cabinet, which has a digital 573 i/o. I've seen some people say that it is impossible to use the official parts because they were not programmed for every 573 systems.

I do want to know if my 8th mix could be changed with a 3rd mix set (with CD-ROM and Security IC T Card) or more.

Is it that complex? Or will any digital 573 systems will be compatible with any digital sets (3 to +)

Since the 3rd mix has a 2nd mode, it would be amazing.

Thank you!

Oli

Unfortunately, you can't. 8th mix extreme is the last mix to be released on the 573 and you can't go back to earlier mixes. You have to track down a 573 that hasn't been upgraded and those aren't easy to find, nor cheap. Recently I saw a 573 with 5th mix on ebay and the final bid was over $500.

Okay this is really misleading advice. Let's explain why.

It is partially true that you can't downgrade mixes officially. If you were in Japan in 2002 and you had a legit MAX2 kit and you wanted to upgrade to EXTREME, you could, but if you tried to install MAX2 again you'd get errors.

However, we're not in Japan in 2002. Almost any 573 in any cabinet in the United States (or anywhere outside of Japan, for that matter) is running bootleg software. The security for every mix from 3rd to 8th has been cracked dozens of times over. So even if OP DID have a legit EXTREME kit (which he doesn't), with the right crack, it is entirely possible to run any 573-compatible mix on your 573. You just have to be a sleuth and find out where to get it. That is left as an exercise to the reader.

Do NOT buy another 573 on eBay for $500. They're ~$250 pieces of hardware and you should never pay more.

There is a reason why I didn't bother to talk about that. It is against the forum rules to talk about cracks here. So I was only talking in regards to the official methods of switching mixes.

I understand not talking about a certain type of cracks that are covered by a different website, but we're talking 3rd to 8th here. There's no reason not to talk about cracks that came out over twelve years ago. No one making the cracks or using the cracks is going to get in trouble.

Besides, giving no information in this case is likely better than giving them misleading information.
