So basically was messing around with one of the packs i downloaded and decided to add lyrics to them.

I opened up notepad and proceeded to time code every line of the lyric and coded in some colors for good measures, and then after saving the lrc file into the correct pack of choice and loaded up Stepmania 5 (beta 3) and went to test the song out to make sure the lyrics were gonna show up, but by the time I played to when the lyrics were supposed to show up they refused to come up.

I tried testing out 777 from the Universe 3 pack since it already had a lrc file in and the lyrics showed up for that song and tried to test it out on both the Default and the DDR 2014 theme (the one I normally use) and on either theme the lyrics would still show for 777 but not for the song I tried working on, is there something wrong?

Did I somehow screw up the process and not realize it?

You might need to reload the cache to get StepMania to realize there's a lyric file there now... if that doesn't work, then there might be bigger problems. :s

"I'm honestly pissed off."
The cache is in %APPDATA%/StepMania 5.0/Cache/
To force the cache to be regenerated, you can delete it. Next time stepmania starts, it'll recreate the cache files for every song, which will take a while.

In theory, you could just find the one file for the song you care about and only delete that, but since there are thousands of files in that folder, it would take too long to load the folder and find the one file for the song.

Did you save it in the right format .lrc?

You should just copy the 777.lrc file and paste it into the folder you're working on, then replace the contents with the lyrics you coded. Also in the .SM or .SSC file there is a #LYRICPATH: go ahead and put the lyric file name in there like 777.lrc;

Then go into your cache - songs and FIND the song you're working on and DELETE it (it's way quicker to just delete one file rather than your entire cache) or Reload songs/courses.

I've done it and for whatever reason Apparently There's A Cheat Code To Happiness still wouldn't let the lyrics pull up, but what I did was I used the 777.lrc fie and copied it to the Butterfly folder in the DDR 1stMIX pack, I replaced the lyrics with "test" and what I gathered was right after reloading the songs, I played the song and the lyrics started to come up, then I made another test and used the [COLOUR] code to see if the texts would turn a different color and check to see if that was the problem, turned out after inputting the [COLOUR]0xFF0000 code and reloaded the songs and replayed Butterfly the lyrics came back and was in red text like it was coded to do, for the last test I pasted the lyrics for the song I was working on to see if it would work on Butterfly, not surprisingly enough...the lyrics didn't show up then it got me thinking, would it be possible that some of the lines of the song are too big to squeeze onto the screen?

Here's the one I was working on - Apparently There's A Cheat Code To Happiness

But here's another file that you use as an example: Po Pi Po

typically StepMania will just display part of the lyric text and cut off the rest at the edges if it's too long... but that's a possibility.

I'm also :tinfoil:ing over line endings being a possible problem here. (though it'd be unlikely, probably)

Dude, Razor your awesome! Tested it out and it worked like a charm, and now I get to see some of the mistakes I make lol!

I was reviewing the difference between the LRC file i made and the one you fixed and I saw you added an offset code to it, was that really the issue? I looked up several tutorials on how to create lyrics and I haven't seen one suggesting offset before

EDIT: Something else I noticed was with each time code for the 100th seconds instead of dividing them with a ':' I noticed you put them in a decimal way instead

Actually, it's not the offset tag. I intentionally added because it was offsync (until now) in StepMania. However, when I played it via Winamp plugin's Minilyric (lrc player and editor), it was fine after I modified the offset. Sort of StepMania doesn't accept the offset lrc tag. Timestamps are still untouched.

I found the first two non-alphanumeric characters before the first [COLOUR] tag via Minilyric lrc editor, although they are not visible via notepad. That might caused it from not displaying. I removed them, saved and it worked.

I added the line separation symbols because there were too long that got truncated using StepMania 5's default theme.
