From the creators of the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise, here's a brand new rhythm game from Bandai Namco games, whose location test is set for this week's end! Although if no game mechanics or cabinets have been shown yet, the page is already filled with the partial starting songlist, featuring the same genre division already available on Taiko games.

Snoop Dogg confirmed illuminate.

On a serious note, sounds pretty interesting Smile

Why do I have the feeling this is going to be strictly touch-based?

A play demo has been posted to the website:

Gameplay appears similar to osu!-style touchscreen rhythm games.

The music sounds cool and I like the aesthetics of the game. Song list looks amazing.
The gameplay looks boring and unoriginal, especially when it seems like they're trying to use the success of Taiko no Tatsujin to promote this game.

Ironic enough, being that ReRave was made by people affiliated with ITG, couldn't they just as well sue? XD;

Anyway, I find it a little disappointing that THIS is the new Namco rhythm game now. What was wrong with continuing Taiko no Tatsujin, a game that actually is rather original for a rhythm game?

Other than that, I guess the game doesn't look too bad. Obviously we won't get the game here, but I still feel a broader song list could get Synchronica in the right direction.

In other words, bring back songs like "Stepping Wind" and then we can talk! :>

Are they replacing Taiko no Tatsujin with this?

Goodbye Namco.

Actually, I don't know. I think I might have underestimated Namco with Taiko no Tatsujin.

Honestly, I'm so used to Namco's usual spiel, the fact that I still see content from this year shocks even me!

Well, I guess there might be some hope then, after all. It could be possible that Taiko will still continue alongside Synchronica, but then again, I won't be TOO surprised if it won't either.

ReRave can actually legally sue now, the game has been patented by the USPTO recently, but that's only if they ever decide to market it over here. But to me this looks more like osu! gameplay than ReRave-style gameplay, it pretty much follows an 'outer-circle moving inside a giant circle' style format that osu! and other touch/click-based rhythm games have.

Can't be too certain about the future for this game yet, it's just barely even gotten a chance at a location test yet, so best to just wait and see how the public take this game.

Er, news flash guys: this game isn't replacing the Taiko no Tasujin brand by any means.

The most recent arcade version of Taiko is still going strong thanks to continuous major firmware build updates and new songs poured in almost monthly, and the console lineup is still strong as well, currently living up with the i-device app and videogames on Nintendo devices (the most recent 2 games coming from both Wii U and 3DS), both of which also do support additional content downloadable online.

Also, did I mention that the staff behind the Taiko games has recently started having monthly stream sessions on NicoVideo about the upcoming new content for Taiko games? That surely doesn't seem the sign of a franchise dying to me!

New location test for the game running from today until November 3rd. It looks like there will be a couple more songs from the previous location test, too!

I can confirm this; a Taiko no Tatsujin/Synchronica cross livestream confirms the launch date.

Plus, the game will receive 10 more songs on July, at the rate of 2 per week of a particular genre at a time: J-Pop, Vocaloid, Game Music, Bandai Originals and Anime.
