Hi,

I own a DDR extreme and I updated it with the MiniMaid recently and it was great until .... I couldn't turn it on anymore :/

I suspect the power supply died. But now I can't seem to find a replacement :/

Anyone here had the same experience ?

I tried to order a replacement and some shop sent me something that looks like a computer power supply which looks nothing like what I have on my machine.

any help would be appreciated

thanks!

"OMG KON!"
-Is your back door on? There is a switch that needs to be held down for the cabinet to turn on.
-Are you sure the fuse just isn't blown?
-Are you sure your power cable is not the problem?

It is very uncommon for DDR PSU's to die. I have only heard of it happening three or so times. They are very reliable so make sure it actually is dead before jumping to conclusions.

HI Kon,

thanks for your quick response, the door switch is held tight so not worries on that end. The cable I used the same to start a computer and it worked.

The fuse I admit I need to re check you raised a doubt in my mind ;) It's a bit of a tiny trap I'll do that tomorrow.

Just in case do you happen to know the reference for the fuse in case I need to get one ?

Thanks.

No idea what the fuse rating is unfortunately. Maybe someone can chime in but it should be pretty standard.

Hi Kon,

I just checked the issue is not the fuse :/

any idea where I can buy the whole PSU ?

If not I started looking at the wiring diagram (p. 63) http://www.betson.com/images/cms/amusement/c4e983654353f073634d4bd90b96fab3_DANCE%20DANCE%20REVOLUTION.pdf

I think there's is a way to bypass the whole PSU, if I can figure out exactly what voltage come out of each pin for each SW. REG.

I would say that the PSU dying is not uncommon at all, actually. Of the machines that I've worked on over the last 6 years or so, I can count 6 with PSU problems, and two that have had more than 1 PSU replacement.

On the plus side, they're not all that hard to find, we just used a local arcade stockist - had tonnes of the things.

Out of the many, many machines I have worked on I have come across zero that have had to have a PSU replaced. Honestly I have only heard of people having a bad PSU maybe once or twice ever. To each their own I suppose.

Ok sorry to revive a dead post but I wanted to give it some closure in case someone had the same issue.

The PSU was fine, you can verify that by having a closed loop (look at the diagram) and turn the thing on and you should hear the fan. (if someone has issues with that just ask I'll post a picture).

The problem was coming from the switch that you have on the front panel where the coins are (just above the counter thingy).
