Hey there. I asked this on the official StepMania forums and didn't receive a response so I was hoping someone could help me out here...
it seems like the default in the current build of StepMania 5, has it zoom in on any 4:3 backgrounds or videos, cutting off the top and bottom. The only option I could find to change this is "Stretch Backgrounds" which just stretches the 4:3 images to 16:9 which is even worse, and this doesn't even affect videos! Is there any way to allow pillarboxing of the videos and backgrounds, without always playing in 4:3 mode? (I ask because, there ARE a handful of 16:9 videos I want to use).
What is my best option on this?

Can't help you, but maybe it's a theme specific option? I'm using the waiei theme and it lets me set the BGs to cover, fit or stretch...

I'm actually working on a solution and nearly finished. The major difficulty is making sure that when other themers try to present the choice in their theme, they won't have problems.
