I made an edit for a song. It worked perfectly fine. The .sm & .ssc files are nowhere to be found. In fact, in the folder, all there is is the audio file. The song & steps still work perfectly in my Stepmania game, but the .sm and .ssc aren't there.
I've tried reloading the songs. Nothing's worked thus far to make them appear. Any ideas?
EDIT: Resolved. I was being stupid. Thanks for the help, anyway.

You're using SM5. That's your problem. It does stuff like that.
Install something else and use that to edit.
SM5 is only ok to play on, not editing.

You sure? I've never had a problem with it.

Happened to me twice when doing a simfile on TOI4. People have reported the same problem. It's SM5 being dumb.

Hmm. I'll probably use 3.9 for editing songs then. I guess I'll extract it and see if that does something.
Thanks.
EDIT: OH MY GOD I'M STUPID. I had to look in the SM5 settings folder, not the programs folder. Never mind, then. That's kinda BS.
Thanks anyway.

Well, that seems unnecessarily harsh (and inaccurate).
It sounds like the OP installed user content (in this case, custom songs) alongside the program data. While this can be done (it is "allowed"), it's not recommended as it causes confusion, like you just experienced. User content should be installed into the respective user data locations:
Quote: stepmania.com/wiki/
Windows: %APPDATA%/StepMania 5.0/
Linux: ~/.stepmania-5.0/
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/StepMania 5
Linux: ~/.stepmania-5.0/
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/StepMania 5
For a more in-depth explanation, check out the installation/upgrade guide I posted here: http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewthread.php?threadid=6514&page=1#p312356

Hmm. That's not what I did. I was just looking in the Program files instead of the Setting files. But thanks.
