I'm trying to get the Grading scale (AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, E) to match how it would be in DDR, but something went wrong.
I keep getting this message
Can't figure out how to put an image here from my computer!
It reads:
Lua runtime error parsing "PlayerStageStats::GradePercentTier06":[string"PlayerStageStats::GradePercentTier06"]:1:unexpected symbol near '<'
I want to fix this but I'm having trouble finding where to fix it.
Also, the game keeps giving me AAA's when I get 950-989k.

What are you modifying to change the grading scale?
If you're editing the metrics, then paste that section of your metrics.

I've been modifying the metrics in the theme, and right now, this one section looks like:
I keep receiving one grade higher than I should and I'm not sure why. And that error message keeps popping up.

You're only supposed to put numbers in there, not arbitrary expressions.
So get rid of that "<".
When checking the tier, stepmania finds the first one that the score compares greater than or equal to.
So 0.99 and up is tier 1, 0.95 and up is tier 2 if it's not tier 1, and so on.
So get rid of that "<".

OK, so how do you score a D?
GradePercentTier096=0.000000?
And why does a score of 950,000 get me a AAA?
And 880,000 get an A?
GradePercentTier096=0.000000?

Tier 1 is AAAA. So your metrics say that anything over 99% should be AAAA, over 95% is AAA, over 90% is AA, and so on.
Anything greater than the value for GradePercentTier07 will be a D.
Anything greater than the value for GradePercentTier07 will be a D.

Even when I get 990,000+, it's still a AAA. Maybe there's just two AAA tiers?

The graphics displayed depend completely on the theme. Not knowing what theme you're using, I can't know what it displays for each tier.

You may need to be more specific than that.I know of a "DDR 2013" theme by authors "G2008&strider" floating around that a friend linked me to. I checked it out briefly, but it was logging over 1000 warnings+errors per second to my console. (I used it for ~thirty seconds, and logged 38978 warnings.) I kind of lost interest in it after that.

This is what SM5 does to calculate your grade for a song:
It fetches the GradeWeight metrics from the ScoreKeeperNormal section and uses them to assign point values to each step.
This means that each W1 (Fantastic, Marvellous, Magical) is worth 2 points. Each W2 (Excellent, Perfect, Radical) is worth 2. Each W3 (Great, Great, Cool) is worth 1. Each W4 (Decent, Good, Fair) is worth 0. Each W5 (Wayoff, Boo, Boooring!) is worth -4 (subtracts 4 from your point total). Each Miss (Miss, Miss, Eww!) is worth -8.
So imagine a score with 5 W1, 4 W2, 3 W3, 2 W4, 1 W5, and 1 miss.
5 * 2 is 10, so 10 points from W1.
4 * 2 is 8.
3 * 1 is 3.
2 * 0 is 0.
1 * -4 is -4.
1 * -8 is -8.
So it works out to 10 + 8 + 3 + -4 + -8, which is 9. The player scored 9 total points in the song.
There are 16 steps, and W1 is worth 2, so the maximum possible points is 32.
Next, the point value is converted to a percentage of the maximum. 9 / 32 is 0.28125.
SM5 takes this percentage and goes down the list of GradePercentTier metrics.
Is 0.28125 > 1.0? (Tier 01) Nope.
Is 0.28125 > 0.99? (Tier 02) Nope.
Is 0.28125 > 0.95? (Tier 03) Nope.
Is 0.28125 > 0.90? (Tier 04) Nope.
Is 0.28125 > 0.85? (Tier 05) Nope.
Is 0.28125 > 0.80? (Tier 06) Nope.
0.28125 is greater than -99999, so this is a Tier 7 grade.
After the tier is calculated, three conditions are checked.
If GradeTier02IsAllW2s is true, then a full combo of W1 will result in grade tier 1 and a full combo of W2 or better will result in grade tier 2. Otherwise, the grade will be tier 3 or lower, even if the dance point percentage is high enough for a higher tier.
If GradeTier01IsAllW2s is true, then a single judgment less than W2 will make the grade be tier 2, even if it has a high enough dance point percentage for tier 1.
If GradeTier02IsFullCombo is true, then if all the steps were as good or better than the MinScoreToMaintainCombo metric (W3 in default, W4 in DDR), then the grade tier is 2. Otherwise, the tier is 3 or lower.
Finally, the theme uses the tier to pick an image to show.
Pitfalls:
GradeTier01IsAllW2s=false
GradeTier02IsAllW2s=false
GradeTier02IsFullCombo=true
This will result in tier 1 being impossible with a full combo, because the full combo logic will make it return tier 2.

You haven't said what you want to do. You need to explain what you want with the grades or what your problem is.

i just want to make my scores in correct like in arcade.. like 90+ score is A 95+ is AA 99+ is AAA. cuz in my theme sometimes i got an score of 92+ but i got a B grade i got 99+ in my score but not full combo then i got only AA.
btw im using SM5 beta 3 ddr 2013.

Contact the theme author and see if they'll make an updated version that grades correctly. My explanation was meant for people that know some theming and need to know how the grading system works.
