Yes, I know probably some of you are tired about this.

I just wanted to know how likely it is to fully emulate 3rdMIX AC onwards on MAME in the future.

I've read it has something to do with MAME not being able to crack digital audio of the 573 Digital System CPU, whereas 573 Analog System CPU (1stMIX, 2ndMIX, Club and DS) works properly.

So, that's it. I just want a small light of hope since my chances of getting a DDR machine now (esp an older mix) are zero to none.

Well I wouldn't say that its impossible, but other people that have tried having a go at it have had little to no success emulating the digital I/O. Even then MAME needs to approve that it can run on their software which is also not a guarantee even if it ever does get cracked and emulated. If it doesn't happen soon (as in within the next couple years) I would doubt that it will ever happen at all. There simply just isn't that many people in the Bemani community with the knowledge to decrypt, code and emulate software/hardware where as in other communities (like classic gaming) there is a fair number of people that are willing to work on that stuff.

It's times like these I think the community should put money together in a pot and play someone inside or outside the community to do the job. I'd throw down a couple hundred for something like that.

It can and will be emulated in the future, but it's not a goal for anyone right now, because so many of the PCBs still exist in common circulation, and one of them (Dancing Stage Euromix) is so popular that it's still bought and sold for large ammounts of money.

The only goal of the MAME team is to preserve games in their original format, not to make the games widely availble for free. All of the Bemani System 573 Digital games are fully dumped, but there's no rush to emulate them, because the original hardware is so easy to find.

If there's ever a need to emulate it, then it's very possible, and it will almost certainly show up in MAME, but right now if you want to own DDR 3rd Mix, then it's infinately easier to get your hands on than the vast majority of the games that currently run in MAME. Of course, the logistics of owning a dedicated cabinet are a bit more complicated, but buying a System 573 Digital board with the 3rd Mix CD, and hooking it upto your TV to play isn't a difficult task.

Oh, I didn't know it was that unlikely. I would start looking for an older machine around here (Lima, Peru). But my problem is that most of 3rdMIX machines are bootlegs running the console version. And it's very unlikely to have a whole machine sent here unless it's part by part, which could cost much more with shipping and stuff.

Wait, is it posible to buy the board and software only and hook it up to a normal TV? I guess I would also need the arcade pads, right?

Most arcade machines produced after 1985 (including DDR) are "plug and play". The machine itself just consists of the monitor, speakers, coin mechanism and controls, and every arcade game comes programmed onto a board that slots into a universal cartridge slot (called the JAMMA Loom), and they're all interchangeable.

To play the board without an actual DDR cabinet, you you'd just need any Jamma-compatible arcade cabinet, or a Supergun console :

To be honest, I don't know why you'd actually want to do that, though. Authenticity on an arcade cabinet is kind of fun, but the older games haven't aged very well, and the Playstation versions are 99% arcade perfect anyway?

BEMANI CS games are known for having bigger timing windows to account for controller lag (except that in DDR, Marvelous window stays the same IIRC)

It's pretty much because of the game interface, wider song list and yeah, authenticity. Nostalgia plays a part here, also. I was asking about MAME since I wanted to play an AC mix, solely for the sake of playing an AC mix. As I said, getting any mix around here is not easy as it is. But buying a Supergun console and a board sounds more possible right now. Thanks for the replies!
