"BANNED" |
...and no its not related to the Multiplayer game varient from the Halo series.
First a little backstory. Before I joined Z-I-V, I was a member of Reality TV Rules fourms, a fourm dedicated to couch potatoes. Right now the fourm is disbanneded and I never got a chance to finished playing the game, however I would like to revive that game (no, not in the middle of the game that I started, that would be silly) here on Z-I-V.
Now for the rules, that I have managed to save.
"Odd Ball", which is a one player game. Here's how it works:
First, the board is set up like this:
_ A B C D E F G H I
1 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
2 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
3 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
4 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
5 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
6 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
7 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
8 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
9 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
There are a total of 81 sqaures on the board divided into rows numbered 1 through 9, and columns labled A through I. On each turn, the player is to pick a ? mark by picking a coordinate (a letter & a number) to be revealed. There are money amounts that range from $1 up to $10,000.
However, behind one number is the dreaded "Odd Ball". If the player picks it, they'll lose everything they've earned up to that point. If the player picks a total of four Odd Balls, they lose the game & win nothing.
After every 9 balls a player picks, they have a chance to quit with what they've won, which could be crucial because if a player continues, another Odd Ball is placed on the board, replacing the smallest amount of money still left in play. However, walking away with the money might be important for bragging rights as I'll post the highest money winners that play.
Now, here's how the amounts are distributed:
$1-$10=10 spaces
$11-$99, with each appearing twice=18 spaces
$111-$999, with each appearing twice=18 spaces
$1,111-$9,999, with each appearing twice=18 spaces
$10,000=9 spaces
"Odd Ball"=1 space
So far that equals 74. The other 7 spaces each contain one of the letters that spell the words, "ODD BALL". If the player should find all 7 letters that spell out Odd Ball, they'll win a jackpot that starts at $50,000 & increases by adding all of the money lost by players picking Odd Balls, & will continue to grow until someone claims it.
One more bonus that I need to mention: Everytime a player completes a row, column, or diagonal line of 9 numbers, they'll win a $900 bonus.
That pretty much sums it up, though I might change up the amount distribution.
So now my question is: Is there an interest in this game?

Just a quick question: How do you get four Oddballs if there's only one on the grid?

I think he means in total, meaning there is one Odd Ball per game, and if you get it within your first round, it doesn't kick you out and you are still in the game, you'll just lose that round and then the next person plays. Once you accumulate four Odd balls, you are out of the game and lose all of your money.Post #4 · Posted at 2013-01-28 12:02:06pm 11.2 years ago

You missed that Silver Spirit. An Odd Ball is placed on the board replacing the lowest dollar ammount left in play after each successful round of play without picking an Odd Ball. Well an Odd Ball is added even if the first Odd Ball is revealed.

1) Player chooses not to continue after each round
2) If Player picks 4 Odd Balls
3) Player successfuly clears the board, provided #2 doesn't occur

So, since you can't choose to drop out until you choose 9 squares, would we choose all at once or one by one?

one by one, but a DoND style of play might be interesting. I'll give it thought, but till then strict one by one.

Well it has been about a week since I announced this and so far only 2 people show interest.
I think what I should do is host a demo of the game and I think I'll start this demo in about 2 weeks from now. So if you would like to play the demo game please shot me a PM.
