Wouldn't it be great if 513 and Dr. D both passed OT"P"Standard on the same attempt? Just a thought.

Also you guys are insane, but that should be clear to everyone by now.
PFCing a 8 is better than like, 99.99% of people in the world, right?

"five minute white boy challenge"
Quote: Dr.D
as in 513 watches my side in beginning of OTP on 3x then, if he makes it past the beginning, continue reading his side on 1-1.25.

this is what i do while playing songs with speed-ups on console games, i play on my pad at the lowest mod possible and put a controller on the highest mod possible, switching which side to read from

honestly i should've mentioned that eariler as it works very well

"Pls"
And to think i've been killing my eyes trying to read those speed changes Neutral
Never ACTUALLY realized there was an easier way of doing those things...

And people doesn't think there is a flaw in chart design when this is "common sence" since too long.

I wonder what Konami will do if nobody will ever clear OTPStandard
I hope they make easier the requirements so the players can attempt it more often (and without spending a huge amount of coins).

They have no reason to lower the requirements. The more people grinding to accomplish one goal means more attention to the game. More attention means more revenue for Konami. People seem to forget that this is a company. That's out to make money. And they seem to have hit the jackpot with OTP.
Now, if people weren't grinding to try to accomplish the task and people stopped caring about OTP/RDi all together, then maybe I can see them trying to ease things up a bit.

The requirements don't need to be lowered. This is doable. We know all the speed-ups, all the slowdowns and the exact steps of about half the song. When Dr.D and 513 go back to trying, this is gonna get done.

it's not "common sense", it's just a commonly thought strategy to beat it. it's supposed to be challenging, otherwise people would be clearing it left and right.

Well how much is it, 100 tokens per OTP attemp ? There is a difference beetween challenging and this.
It's just that the grind to make a single attemp seems really tedious and again cost way too much.
RDA on X2 was crazy but not as much as this one.

Quote: Quickman
This is doable.
Sure you get some satisfaction grinding your way to OTP. And when you play it you're problably really glad. Someone will probably clear it, someday. But is it fun tho, to grind your way there ?
I don't think every challenge should be "fun" but it wouldn't hurt if they were (and costed less per attempt).

I don't know it seems that i'm the only one "shocked" by all of this. The way that you have to use so much money to even attempt to a single chart and fail because of a gimmick (gimmick that is intended to make you fail).
Well if i'm just the only one thinking like this, sorry then : d (but at least you know my point of view, from the outside).

I get this.
That's also why the requirement are stupidly long/hard to farm.
Because they want it to be challenging.
Because they need to get money around that event.
And a "ultra new challenging song" beated in a day or two would sounds really bad for them and for the players, somehow.
But then, when the event is gone, i'm stuck with songs like "888" that i will never play because i can't learn 30+ steps by heart and nobody will play this song with me. That might be a shitty exemple but you get my point : playing alone. Same for double. being forced to have low speedmods or wave effect in not really fun imo.

Does anyone knows when Dr.D or 513 will get back to it ? (i through Dr.D was back from vacations).
I'm really curious on how the full Standard and above will be. Regardeless of the speed gimmicks i like what they did so far.

RDA was similar that you have to spend 6 credits for each attempt at Valkyrie dimension, though the requirements to unlock each song on ES is less grindy. Tohoku and Vd was similar in that it's riddled with gimmicks to make you fail, though OTP has to PFCed so it's difficult in its own way.

also, i only know that there's like 2 people who cleared Vd on EES. at least konami nerfed OTP several times so it's playable on lower difficulties and we get to hear the song and see the gimmicks.

Let's face it, without all these "grindy" and "boring" requirements, this song would've been cleared in maybe a couple of weeks and no one would've really given a shit about it. With the requirements, there's a somewhat air of mystery and hype surrounding it. Hell, we haven't even seen the hardest chart yet!

It's on the front page sidebar now, but the Round1 location test now has a schedule per Eddie:

"The DDR 2014 Location test at Round 1 PHM will be starting next Tuesday [August 4] and will run for 2 weeks. PLEASE do not show up too early as the techs and Konami reps will be busy setting it up in the morning, safe bet is that the machine should be ready to play by 1pm if there are no problems though."

I eagerly await the footage from the location test; I wanna see the UI be in English and all that jazz.

Also curious if you're still gonna be able to do RDI since it's now running eAmuse. : P

Yay, I hope the tests go well. But considering what happened after the e amuse and IIDX tests in the US, I am not so sure as much as I would be. Anyways, good to see Konami is actually intrested surpisingly, consdering after what happened a few months ago.
And the fact they only think PES and YU Gi Oh keeps them alive.

clearing beginner =/= clearing difficult

while i don't mind playing MAX. Standard over and over again, MAX. Heavy gets pretty tiring as you play it lots of times and MAX. Challenge is out of my reach, i believe. i don't think i can clear that thing on EXTRA STAGE, so yeah.
