...had absolutely nothing on a DDR incarnation this year? Nothing at all, not even a possible multisystem port of DDR II?
You think maybe they're doing a 2-year dev cycle to make a better DDR game, taking a break from exposure, or just canning the series? Clearly, X3 vs. 2ndMix indicates otherwise on their homefront... weird!
Or am I missing something?

This is our 2012 DDR game. I am not even kidding, U1 even said so himself after the reveal that there was no DDR game at E3 2012. It may not be for home consoles but it IS a 2012 DDR game...

Epic facepalm. DDR: CE can not seriously be our 2012 game, can it? Are they just trying to infuriate the western audience? If it isn't just us getting ghetto releases (but thanks for DDR II and Ext2), it's also EU getting nothing at all. Just WHO besides high school physical education classes are actually going to get CE? They'll have worse sales than DDR II if you ask me, so I have no idea what they're doing anymore. At this rate, if they don't want to continue dishing out DDR for us non-Asia markets, they should just release the rights of ITG. Normally, I'm a DDR Konami fanboy, but this has just gotten me to where I won't lose any sleep if our SN2 cabinet was replaced overnight by ITG2 r21/r23, because at least we'll actually have a chance to play the latest stuff on an arcade cab.
Sorry if this seems too much like a bitter, pessimistic point of view, but I've lost faith in them, now.

Honestly look at it from Konami's standpoint:
DDR 2010 sold horribly for all systems. Probably did best on the Wii. DDR II sold meh as well. Before the clear focus platforms were PS2 and Wii. PS2 is dead. Wii is all but dead. Wii U is still a holiday away. It would be silly for Konami to spend the time and effort to produce a CS game for any system at this point, considering that they "supposedly" maxed out the storage for the Wii (yeah there was some unused data on the disc but it wasn't like gigabytes of free space or anything).
I don't think Classroom Edition is seriously intended to be our "DDR for the year" considering it's not a consumer product. It's meant for schools only and probably lacks many of the traditional features found on DDR games.
And quite honestly, they would be hard pressed to top the mix from last year. Granted the DDR II exclusives were mostly meh, integrating RDA, most of the X2 content, and full versions of songs was obviously a welcome list of features for the fans. If we got a CS mix this year, it would seem like it was obviously forced and probably wouldn't be able to compete with DDR II from last year.
I say let them take a year off and come back next year with a great mix for the Wii U/PS3/360 or whatever.

DDR CE is an abomination.
We don't know what's KONAMI thinking about DDR. But it seems they don't care about DDR as they used to anymore. Take a look at that silly comments on DDR FB fanpage and all the wall posts about KONAMI viral content (with no info about DDR). Then, someone ask NAOKI via Twitter if he plans to go to E3 then he replies saying "no". He maybe knows fans on N.A. wants a DDR comeback but what would he do about the series? DDR Wii games doesn't sell the same as before, and (the so-called evolution of DDR) DDR (PS3) was a failure.
And that's just DDR, DanceMasters sold poorly because casual player and non BEMANI fans don't care about KONAMI original songs only fans as we BEMANI fans do. DanceEvolution Arcade is a great game. KONAMI should do a (really) better plan for a N.A. release.
About SIRIUS....
Let's wait for SOUND VOLTEX BOOTH CS, instead.

Honestly, I would've thought it was DDR 2010 that started the downfall. Supernova did have that lie or other about being compatible with the arcade version (at east, I don't think it worked), but . As far as empty promises go, DLC at launch, anyone? Then there's the fact that the beta prior to the actual game promised way more than that.
Why DDR II didn't do better, I have no idea... I know a handful of people who won't touch it because they followed the PS2 games and have no Wii, though. That, or that whole "the fanbase is dying" theory that I would rather tune out and try to be a better fan myself.
If DDR comes back next year, I'd be happy. Just a person among many who didn't expect them to chuck a haphazardly thrown together game out this year.

I believe it was X. Most people are cool with SN1, it's an incredibly popular game to be honest.
To be fair, how long it's been since the japanese saw a CS DDR release? They didn't got X2 CS (western version), DDR2010 or DDRII...

In an attempt to get the thread back on topic. It's too bad the Wii U's touch screen doesn't support multitouch. That rules out a jubeat port that could have been perfect.

I think the thread should change its title.
Also, a new DDR for the PS3 would be cool.
I always imagined it would be the greatest thing, but they need to avoid doing whatever it was they tried to do for DDR 2010.

That would be outsourcing the development to an incompetent studio. A shame too, the DLC promise and what they did come up with would've made the game very appealing otherwise. It's truly mind-boggling that DDR has struggled so much with DLC in its life. The best application of it was the Ultramix/Universe games, and they've disappeared too.
