When a song is over 2:30, StepMania immediately brands it as "Long" and it takes two stages to play. My question is, is there any way to override that? Meaning, is there any way to get it to read the song as 2:30 or below, or, at the very least, ignore the fact that the song is over 2:30 without cutting the song itself?
I know that it can be done somehow if the music is in in .ogg format, but I just don't really know how... besides, the file itself is an .mp3. Any help would be appreciated.

You can set what is considered a long song or marathon song by editing either Stepmania.ini (SM3.9) or Preferences.ini (SM5).
Look for "LongVerSeconds".

You have to change the way StepMania handles it. I think it can be adjusted at the theme level too, but not on a song by song basis. The only exception to this is the metatag bug on the r21 revision of In The Groove 2, which doesn't measure the song's actual length but reads the meta data for the song and can be tricked into thinking anything Dragonforce is 1:45.
That might mean you can trick other versions of StepMania 3.9 too. Not sure about 4. I know for certain that ssc and StepMania 5 will see through it.

Actually, stepmania 5 doesn't see through it, because a lot of Tachyon songs are 1:45 when they're actually a lot longer.
