I'm guessing it's the new CHAOS (A->B->C more stops).
EDIT: Maybe it's only playable in Tokyo? In that case, there might be an Osaka Ver. D when it gets to Osaka.

Wow, surprising they didn't F up the Doubles charts. Hell, i'd say they are BETTER than the singles. Good job Konami, you have New York EVOLVED dodge the cool music but sucky chart bullet. Has there been a video of the singles chart for X3?

The X3 AC team did the doubles steps, while the shitty CS team did the single steps. It's expected they'd be good; they're new charts, and the AC step team really knows what they're doing. It's just unfortunate they won't change the crappy singles steps.

Konami is nothing if not cheap. At the very least it could encourage more Doubles play, right?

I've always found the existence of doubles almost a waste of effort, time and resources on Bemani's part because of this. Pay twice the amount for a harder mode which you will unlikely be able to practice much because,
a) It's more expensive,
b)Good luck playing doubles at home with an "official" soft-pad.
It really is a shame, because its obvious a lot of care was put into the new double charts (all of the new single charts too) in X3.

Hah, then consider me spoiled in the fact that I learned to play double at an arcade where I got one year of unlimited gameplay for $50, and regularly play on a machine with DOUBLE PREMIUM enabled.

Almost every single DDR machine in Japan is set to Doubles Premium.

Not as hard as you think. Hardwood floors + tape, I played Doubles a lot.
I also successfully setup a Quad Mode stage for ULTRAMIX 3 using three DDR softpads and one Pump It Up softpad. We have the technology...

Honestly I can see the reasoning behind charging 2 credits for doubles. If you have a line of players and someone chooses doubles, you're essentially losing a play that could be had if you chose doubles. Besides, it's an advance mode that's meant for dedicated players.

I liked the steps to all three versions of New York EVOLVED on singles. Is everyone jumping on the bad-step bandwagon just because it's cool? Just because the steps to all of the DDR PS3 songs were made outside of Japan, doesn't automatically make them inferior. What's so bad about them exactly?

My problem with NYE is that the steps are out of sync, that's it.

You don't know what good steps are, sorry. People prefer Japanese stuff because historically they've proven that they make the better charts and/or fix issues with steps. This doesn't mean american stuff always suck, most people will have an Ultramix or a Universe game in their favorite DDR games, and those were american-made games.

I say Universe 3 has the overall most solid stepcharting of any DDR.

I liked the steps to NYE, the only chart I didn't like is Ver. A's on the speedup.

"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
The majority of stepcharts to DDR/DDR II really did fall short of the high standard set by X/X2, or even EXTREME. Honestly, they felt more like 2ndMix charts on Shuffle than anything else. There are a few diamonds in the rough though, like Wicked Plastik, IN THE ZONE, dreaming can make a wish come true (but no effing way is that an 11!!), Let's Get Away, Find You Again, Top The Charts, and yes, I'm gonna say them - CRAZY LOVE and New York EVOLVED. Oh yeah, and Take Me. Almost forgot that one.
I think the other problem that plague those two mixes is a distinct lack of undergroundy influence, but that's beside the point.
They're just in a creative, experimental lull right now... they'd rather make steps that are distinctive than steps that are good, but provably formulaic. They're also making a bigger number of easy songs now because they're trying to grow a new playerbase in addition to the whopping 250 ZiV'ers that actually own DDR II/hp5.
