Hey King of Light, how long did it take for you to reach the Completionist Rank? Did you finish all of the RB3 Goals on each instrument to do so? Did you use any of the DLC goals to help out?

I achieved the rank about a week and half ago, and I pretty much played nonstop since the game came out.

I used A LOT of DLC based goals (I actually bought a lot of DLC just to get more goals Dead ), and I'm pretty sure that the RB1, RB2, Lego RB, and Green Day RB goals count as extra as well. I still have quite a few RB3 instrument goals left, most of them being for Pro Guitar/Bass. I also have a handful of goals left for Pro Keys, and the following random ones left:

-Hit 100% of the notes in the Guitar solo in The Final Countdown (on Expert)
-5 star everything on Expert Keys
-Get 90% Triple Awesomes on the following four songs (I would need 3 people for this one)
-Get all Double Awesomes on songs that have them
-Get all Triple Awesomes on songs that have them

Pertaining to the above discussion about DDR songs in RB, I forgot that Do You Want You is DLC and it appeared on Supernova 1 CS

DLC Week of 1/11 - Linkin Park 6 Pack w/ 2 Pro Guitar upgrades!
DLC Week of 1/18 - Stone Sour 3 Pack!

Quote: hmxhenry
Hey gang,

Next week's DLC will be a 3 pack from Stone Sour. You may know them as a side project for several members of Slipknot, but they've also been nominated for three Grammys. Should be a nice addition for folks looking for metal as well as those looking for more tracks from the 2000's. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (Jan. 18):

“Made of Scars”
“Say You’ll Haunt Me” X
“Through Glass”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system Jan. 19)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Stone Sour Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points) for Stone Sour Pack 01

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

Here's the tracks that came out on Rock Band Network on the Xbox 360 in the past week:

Scott Attrill – “2 Invade (Stadium Mix)”
All Hallow’s Evil – “The Cold Taste of Nickel Plated Steel”
Stan Bush – “Til All Are One”
Morgawr – “Lindisfarne”
HourCast – “Clockwork”
Man Parts – “Motorcide (2x Bass Pedal)”
Chaotrope – “Reaper”
Arkaea – “Years in the Darkness”
The Pursuits – “24-7″
Rainbowdragoneyes – “Creatures ov Deception (2x Bass Pedal)”
A Day to Remember – “It’s Complicated”
A Day to Remember – “All I Want”
Ivoryline – “The Healing”
Freen in Green – “Nocturnal Wasteland”
BulletProof Messenger – “Control”
The Riptides – “The Pale Rider”
The Material – “Stay Here Forever”
Bumblefoot – “Real”

Here's the songs coming to RBN on PlayStation 3 on January 18:

Iron & Wine – “Flightless Bird, American Mouth”
Children of Nova – “Arcaedion”
The Agonist – “Thank You, Pain.”
Sunny Day Real Estate – “Song About an Angel”
Evile – “Nosophoros”

And here's the RBN tracks coming to the Wii on January 18:

The Main Drag – “How We’d Look On Paper”
Wounded Soul – “Rx”
Band of Horses – “The Great Salt Lake”
Firewind – “Head Up High”
Cetan Clawson and the Soul Side – “White Heat”
OK Go – “White Knuckles”

Next Tuesday, 1/18/2010, will also be the last scheduled batch of Rock Band Network songs brought over to the Wii. With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process these additional tracks we’re no longer able to continue submitting RBN content to the Wii. Regular Wii DLC, and RBN releases for the 360 and PS3 will continue uninterrupted.

Ouch, sucks for Wii users.

Of course the Wii version has less support from it's owners, the release is a bitch of a glitch among it's other glaring design issues. Them cutting out RBN now is just an even bigger slap to the face at this point. In spite of all of that stuff beforehand I was actually thinking about getting the keyboard, but I just seriously don't know now.

I wouldn't be upset about the RBN tracks, as they specifically stated a supply-and-demand scenario. With the other stuff such as nonexistent patches for the Wii, you can blame Nintendo's policies. Nintendo is also to blame for the lack of the free HMX pack, and the lack of sales for certain packs.

Edit: DLC Week of 1/25 - David Bowie 5 Pack!

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system Jan. 26)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “David Bowie Pack 02” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

Holy crap, I can't believe I got this after only a few tries:

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n103/KingofLight/downsize.jpg

Try singing this and you'll see why I'm so proud of this score, it's by far the hardest song to sing in Rock Band. Now I only have Bohemian Rhapsody left to gold star for the RB3 songs

Alleged DLC for Feb 1st will be the album of The Clash's London Calling. Harmonix has yet to make an announcement, so it's a rumour at this point.

*NEW* Rock Band 3 Title Update Notes - 1/31

Quote: HMXPope
Hello Friends,

As HMXHenry alluded to in his post from December 2 (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210000), we’ve been working on a new title update for Rock Band 3, and I’m very happy to announce that it is currently live on Xbox 360, and should be hitting on PS3 in US and Europe within 24 hours. We'll update when we know for sure the PS3 update is live. (Before you ask: Unfortunately, we’re not able to update titles on the Wii system, so this does not apply to Rock Band 3 for the Wii.)

In addition to numerous bug fixes and tweaks, possibly the most exciting component of this new title update is the arrival of RBN2.0. For those not in the know, this will add Harmonies, Keys, and Pro Keys authoring support for RBN songs. For more info on that, head over to http://creators.rockband.com!

Before I get into highlights of this update, we want to give the hugest of shoutouts to you, our community. Without your ongoing, detailed and constructive feedback, we would not have been able to pinpoint and address as many issues as we have here. It can be frustrating when you run into an issue with a game, but those of you who chose to proactively post your findings here on rockband.com instead of resigning yourself to “Well, that’s just the way it is,” are true heroes.

Enough chatting, on with the vital details!

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

* The audio distortion (also referred to as a buzz, hiss, or squawk) that some PS3 Keyboard players experienced has been addressed.
* For users experiencing trouble deploying Vocal Overdrive in certain audio setups, OD can now be deployed using the Back button on the controller. NOTE: this only works while in a valid Overdrive deploy section.
* Overdrive can now be deployed using a Pedal with both the Mustang Pro Guitar and the Keyboard peripherals.
* Scoring is disabled after a song has been paused multiple times (this prevent players from artificially inflating scores using the pause function).
* The translucency of the track surface has been adjusted to make note gems are easier to see against the venue backgrounds.
* Based on fan feedback, limited functionality for the Stage kit has been added to Rock Band 3. Please note that this 3rd-party peripheral is no longer officially supported, so we cannot guarantee full functionality with every file format (RB3, Pro-DLC), but basic functions should be reenabled.

ONLINE CHANGES

* PS3 Voice Chat not properly working with headsets has been remedied.
* Audio no longer distorts for remote players when whammying sustains in an online session.
* To prevent blank tracks from appearing in online multiplayer, all members in an online multiplayer band must own the Pro upgrades to play a song with DLC pro upgrades.

MUSIC LIBRARY AND STORE CHANGES

* Pro Guitar songs now sort themselves into the correct difficulty tiers.
* Pro upgrade availability will now be more accurately reflected in the Music Store.
* The following songs are now correctly appearing in the Music Library:

o Anvil - 666
o Anvil - Metal on Metal
o Anvil - This is Thirteen
o Dinosaur Jr - Pick Me Up
o Dinosaur Jr - The Wagon
o Guess Who, The - Hand Me Down World
o Guess Who, The - No Time
o Tenacious D - Rock Your Socks
o Avenged Sevenfold – Afterlife

PRACTICE MODE CHANGES

* An issue that prevented holding sustain notes on keys in the trainers has been addressed
* Breakneck Speed now works in Practice Mode.

CRASH FIXES

* Fixed a Character Creator crash related to a particular eyebrow asset or the generation of a random character.
* Fixed assorted minor crashes, as well as minor scoring and text bugs.

At first, I was annoyed because I understood it as "lol patch is for RBN 2.0 only" Then I kept on reading and died of joy.An issue is that I can't activate Vocal Overdrive with the select button since I play drums at the same time >:/

Another issue is that harmonix isolated the pro guitar players to only play with other pro guitar players. I didn't see anyone complain about the empty highway when playing with a person that's playing pro guitar, so this change baffles me :/

Why couln't they just let any button on the controller activate Overdrive?

Fiddling around with it to find select is better than screaming during quiet parts of the song, but not much better :{

The square, circle, and triangle buttons are assigned to the three mic volumes.
The X button is assigned to the tambourine/cowbell,handclap notes.
The R1 and R2 buttons are assigned to Pitch Correction and Master Track Volume.
The directional buttons are used to toggle the above options.

You're only left with 5 buttons: Select, L1, L2, L3 and R3. It only makes sense to assign it to the select button since the guitar and keyboard use the same button as an alternate overdrive activator.

Reading through the forums a bit, I learned why pro guitar is needed to play with others online. Since the highway was blank, it wouldn't add the score to the band score. So the person with the pro guitar charts would score higher than the people he played with. Makes more sense to me.

"DINGDONG♥HEARTS"
There was another round of HMX lay-offs on Monday. One of the employees was a tad bitter about it so he wound up leaking information regarding to having Meat Loaf in Rock Band. At this point it's being treated as a rumour.

Today, there was an error in the European version of Rock Band 3 for the Wii that accidentally leaked the songs for next week, including the aforementioned Meat Loaf.

* Animotion – Obsession
* B.O.B. feat Hayley Williams – Airplanes
* Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart
* The Human League – Don’t You Want Me
* Lady Antebellum – Need You Now
* Meatloaf – Paradise By The Dashboard Light
* Stevie Nicks – Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around

It's all speculation at this point, so we'll find out on friday when they announce next week's songs.
