I already mentioned this elsewhere, but I'll be playing barefoot if I show up.

Also, post this on r21freak.com.

That rule is in place to meet Bigg's requirement of the Colorado Health Law to enforce a No Shirt No Shoes No Service policy. How much we enforce it is up to Razma (the arcade tech and tournament organizer) and the rest of Bigg's management. Besides as a arcade operator myself at another arcade, I don't like cleaning out the human flesh from the pads as much as the next guy. But that is another topic. ;)

"I'm honestly pissed off."
My other choice for footwear is a pair of monster hiking boots that turn my scores into trash. Plus they're monster hiking boots, which many people consider more damaging to machines. Maybe I'll pick up some other shoes between now and then, but probably not.
I don't leave flesh behind on the pads. In all my months of playing barefoot, I've only torn the skin on a foot once.
Plus I'll be out in the second round (because it's double elimination), so it won't matter that much anyway.

Now don't hammer yourself down like that. Just start practicing as much as you can until then. I have been playing for two hours virtually every day to be ready.

By the ways we are hosting a raffle on our site to help boost prize funds for the event. First up I have a collection of Dancemania CD's (1 through 10 & Delux3) up for grabs. Check out http://www.ddrencore.com/sporktoberfest.html for details.

"I'm honestly pissed off."
I know my skills, and I know the skills of the local players, and there aren't any local players that I seriously think I can do better than.
Plus I haven't been able to practice this month due to an injured ankle.
But that's not important.

About the theme: Is it a pure DDR theme, or are there ITG options like Hide Background and Mini/Tiny and 2.5x/3.5x/4x? A more ITG or SM4-like noteskin (no transparent part in the center of the arrow)? I'm just wondering because I know I score better with more opaque arrows, dimmer BG, and the right speed mod/mini combination.

It is a very pure setup, for the tournament, the options will be as official as the DDR X arcade game. (Basically the most significant change there will be a 2.5x speed modifier. Other than that it is pretty well as it is seen in DDR SuperNOVA.) The gameplay screen of the theme, looks very much like the SuperNOVA series of games, however for the tournament a dance point scoring system is used, so your score is going to look like 523 points or 467 points depending on song by the time you are done with the song. Beyond that the other screens are well, blue with a touch of green.

Okay here is the new announcement. Pre-registration is now online. Simply head for the official mini-site where you can fill out a form online telling us who you are what you want to play and what not. This will get you through the line faster come October 17th where all you have to do is just pay your entry fees and boom you are in. Also please be aware that if you pre-register now that you will be entered to win our first door prize. Once again details on the site:

http://www.ddrencore.com/sporktoberfest.html

Bit of updates in reguards to the tournament. First off our first raffle is almost done. In case you have not heard we are raising prize funds for our event and to help with that we are raffling off a collection of Dancemania CDs (11 of them to be exact) head to DDREncore.com to check that out.

Also there is only about two weeks left to enter my Freestyling Youtube Video Contest. Right now I don't have any entries yet but I do know of people working on a video. Nevertheless I want everyone across the net being able to take part in this contest.

Registrations are filling in quick already. Remember while we are not capping the event (unlike some other supposedly big tournament *cough cough*) we do have a 64 player cut (for our expert singles event) after the qualifier. We recommend taking the time to visit the site to register to let us know you are coming. Registering means less wait time in the line to get in because we will have all of your information already. You just pay the entry fees and get in.

Don't forget as well you can enter a doubles tournament and a Beatmania IIDX 16th Style Empress tournament as well. All of this and more at the official Sporktoberfest minisite!

this sounds 10x better than the DDR US Championships. Too bad it's so far away from me Sad If I didn't have a fiance and a life I'd get a few buddies and get a hotel up there to attend the event.

So, yeah, I leave for this tomorrow morning. Wish me luck or something. I'll make sure to record all the rounds I compete in. Probably get stomped and knocked out in the second round on singles and doubles. Yay double elimination.

There are like, 2 songs on the score tracker here where I rank in the top 20%, maybe not even that many. So I think my expectation is reasonable.

Good luck to you Smile

Tournaments can somewhat be unpredictable, so expect the unexpected pretty much...

...unless you know of someone that can AAA/quad every song on the machine with no problem, or something along those lines >_>.

I was there for the heavy singles portion of the tournament. I intended to do doubles but got swamped with homework, so that kind of fell through.

It was a pretty fun event, glad I made it down to the Springs for it. I won one round somehow, I was happy about that.

People sure picked some ridiculous songs to play though. With Chris K vs. X, they did TLOM first, followed by Paranoia Hades which both players failed, and as a random song, they got MAX 300 SMMM. That was the most retarded set I saw while I was there, but I had to skip out early so I could make my two-hour-long drive while still conscious.

Kyzentun did much better than he expected, too. He made it through at least 4 or 5 rounds, I believe.

After I got knocked out I had lots of fun playing on the Beatmania The Final machine that was set up.

Anyways, it was tons of fun, definitely looking forward to Sporktoberfest next year, too. Big Grin

Chris K. here!
Totally agree with you. X and I love boss songs but paranoia hades was not a nice song with The legend of MaxX. I will have to say that the 300 Super Max Me Song was a really good match.

I've sent spork ALL the photos I took from day one but here's the best of the bunch.
Day 1 Pictures

The videos will be given to spork on wednesday and he'll chop them up and post them later on.

I had to miss day 2 due to a certian emergency but It was a fair turnout. I don't believe this is a nation wide tournament yet but next year will be something to talk about.

13th out of 31 on singles (out in the 4th round).
2nd out of 6 on doubles.
I'll start the videos of the final doubles round uploading, but I'm going to sleep before they finish. Just check my channel in a few hours, sorry they're so dark.

Thanks for all your encouragement guys.

Anyway, congrats. Especially on the 2nd place.
