Hey, so if you use Beware's DDR Extreme theme on Stepmania, you probably know that the built-in songs use "card" images on the songwheel to display their title and artist. These are extracted from DDR Extreme's graphics files. Obviously, if you add custom songs to the game, they won't have these images... their title and artist will be generated on-the-fly by Stepmania, which can sometimes look a little jarring by comparison.
So lately I've been dabbling in putting together custom card.png images for a few songs, so they better match the aesthetic of the original design. In this first image are the songs with their custom card.pngs, and the second image shows what they look like with the default Stepmania-generated labels:
The difference can be subtle on some of them, but I like the improvement. These take a bit of effort, soI've only done those six songs so far Running list of completed songs is below, will update as they're created. I figured I'd post them here with a download link in case anybody else was interested in this sort of thing. Download them here. The "Special" folder label image is also included.
To use these, just put the card.png into the corresponding song's folder. If there's interest, maybe I'll share more when I make them.

For the custom cards, I just used Photoshop to mash together letters from the existing cards that had a suitable font size. There was a little extra manual tweaking for some shading details, and cases where the necessary characters weren't available in the right size, such as the ampersand in "Jam&Marmalade".

when i was making custom cards for beware's extreme, i just used photoshop to create a transparent bg the same size and used the font dfg gothic eb or something similar. it looked too crisp though, so i would apply a few blurs. maybe this could help.

Are you using Beware's Extreme theme, or someone else's? There seem to be some differences in fonts and element placements between your version and mine:
I believe the card substitutions are scripted specifically into Beware's theme, as well as the Stepmania 5 port of it.

I'm not using any fonts. I'm just stitching together pieces of the existing cards to make new ones.

Well im betting it would've been fixed in Extreme like how Living in America was credited to John Desire in MAX2 but was fixed to Rose & John in Extreme & So Fabulous So Fierce artist was originally spelled"Thuderpuss" in MAX2 AC until being fixed to "Thunderpuss" in MAX2 Console

Hey, that's awesome! Knowing the different weights for the subtitles is useful, too, as the themes usually use the same weights for both when they're generating them on the fly.
You wouldn't happen to have yours uploaded anywhere, would you? If not, it's no big deal. Just knowing the fonts is helpful enough in itself.

I downloaded the fonts that Wan suggested, and decided to try remaking a couple existing cards in Photoshop, just to see how authentic I could make them look:
The top row has Konami's original artwork, and the bottom is my imitation. I wasn't able to get the weight of the black borders quite right, but it's pretty close.
The lettering in my version also ended up being a little more legible (note the lowercase 'i' in 'PARANOiA'), but that may just be an unavoidable result of using a newer computer. I guess it's also possible that they created these at a larger size and then shrunk them after the fact.
Either way, I think this is close enough to work with, especially for cards that use characters not present in existing Extreme song titles. I may just have to manually tweak some of the borders after the fact.

I went for the actual character that's used in the title. And that character definitely isn't used in any other song.
In EuroMIX2 for some reason they wrote it as HYPNφTIC CRISIS...

It's impossible to imitate 100% some of the cards since it's just guesswork

That's an awful lot of work to ask, dude.
I've done a lot of that, but I WON'T MAKE cards for:
- The 2nd Mix CLUB songs. Exceptions are the songs that appeared in later CS games like 22DUNK, GAMBOL, etc.
- The TKD songs
- The DCT songs
- The DDR KIDS songs
- The OHA STA! songs
- The PSX licenses (i.e. The Bad Touch)
Why? because:
- They aren't relevant to the project I'm doing them for. Maybe except the rest of 2nd Mix Club.
- The chart isn't in SSQ or CMS format (in the case of TKD, DCT and KIDS) or just there's no known way to extract it (in the case of PSX and Dreamcast mixes)
