So I'd been wondering about this lately, especially now that I'm getting into simfile making again:
I know that MP4 format videos are compatible with simfiles besides AVI, and I know that only .avi videos can be posted separately in the simfile page while MP4 videos could only be kept in a custom ZIP.
Also, from what I experienced, compressed MP4 videos generally conserve the high quality, but with a smaller file size compared to AVI because I use Premiere Pro to create the MP4 videos. Converting and compressing videos to AVI (not using Premiere Pro) would end up making the videos at least 50mb no matter how long the song is and/or the quality of the mp4 format I'm converting, and it worries me if I end up posting the videos to my simfile links and it would exceed the file size limit. I usually convert my MP4 videos online because the HandBrake I have doesn't include the AVI option.
I'm a little curious to know if there's more than that, if using MP4's have any other advantages or disadvantages compared to AVI's. Thanks in advance!

In SM 3.9 era, if the AVI file use wrong codec like H.264, SM 3.9 is crash due to access violation. Only detects Xvid and MJPG codecs. SM5 detects AVI and MP4 videos. Only some video editors can convert AVIs with wrong codec per one with a correct one. I usually convert MP4 videos to AVI using video editors as "Any Video Converter" (or AVC). All video downloaders only download MP4 or HTML5 videos.
