Looking at your posts, I can't see why someone would do that. Although it is advisable to avoid talking about negative ratings as in many cases it tends to snowball.

Don't worry, I had my own tough shares with undesired negative feedback. Through that ordeal, I learned enough do's and don'ts of forum etiquette.

I feel that user ratings should have a log listing which exact posts earned/lost posts, so that you can learn from said posts what and what not to do. It's not so nice to blindy get low ratings and just be left to wonder what you did wrong without something to analyze.

I mean half the time someone links/whines about it in chat so it's not hard to find there

but you can rate people from their profiles though -- it's not tied to a post or anything.

Pretty much. It's not like the points matter, but it's pretty frustrating to actually contribute to a thread and then find that you've lost a point.

What are the gold, silver and bronze stars in the rating information for, and are they related to user ratings and rating powers?

A hundred points is a gold star, ten is a silver and one is a bronze.

0 point - 19 points: Bronze medal + red cord
20 points - 29 points: Bronze medal + green cord
30 points - 39 points: Bronze medal + blue cord
40 points - 49 points: Silver medal + red cord
50 points - 59 points: Silver medal + green cord
60 points - 69 points: Silver medal + blue cord
70 points - 79 points: Gold medal + red cord
80 points - 89 points: Gold medal + green cord
90 points - 99 points: Gold medal + blue cord
100 points - 199 points: Bronze star + red cord
200 points - 299 points: Bronze star + green cord
300 points - 399 points: Bronze star + blue cord
400 points - 499 points: Silver star + red cord
500 points - 599 points: Silver star + green cord
600 points - 699 points: Silver star + blue cord
700 points - 799 points: Gold star + red cord
800 points - 899 points: Gold star + green cord

Please help me! I had 70.3 points, and just today, my rating dropped all the way to 48.1. What happened?! How can a user lose over 25 points in one day?! What if spambots deducted points from my rating?!

Can someone please explain? I'm just a bit confused, that's all. I know ratings don't really matter all that much, I just want a teeny bit of input on this situation. It just doesn't seem right.
