OP, you should consider himself lucky that he even lives in a state that has anything Bemani. I live in Oklahoma and the only thing that isn't over an hour away is beatmania 5th mix and a crappy X2 machine. I'm a IIDX player, and my closest cab is the Round 1 in Texas. You should be happy that machines come to you.

I forgot to mention this, but I do use stepmania for songs from DDR X and Up.( Because the X2 At Zuma Fun Center isn't that good, because it's a crappy Betson Cabinet.)

But Aegis, he doesn't like using homebrew that much to be honest. He likes to play the real deal. He only uses stepmania when studying step charts. Don't you remember page 2?

He'll have to learn to live with it to be honest.

What is that trying to even prove?

DDR 2014 could have come first, but I'm sure iidx is making more profit, regardless of the number of players.

You can have one dude put in $20 for iidx as opposed to 10 players putting in $1 throughout the day for DDR and then moving on with another game. There is a reason why things are how they are.

If it helps you sleep at night, then I suggest looking up the official simfiles for the ddr games in the mean time. If you don't like them, then I'm sure you can find the same crossover done to death already (ex: Nageki no ki or Vanessa) from other users throughout the years.

Don't limit yourself to what a game has to offer if it isn't going anywhere any time soon. Yes, the new event is coming out, but it's not worth shelling out so much money for it, from the perspective of an arcade owner.

1 That without It, The Bemani Fad in Houston Never Took off, without the support. We had a Percussion Freaks 9th Mix at Main Event in Webster, TX, but that cabinet have been long gone. I don't know what happened to it, and I honestly wish I did something to save that cabinet from going away. Maybe then we wouldn't be having this problem.

It's not about the cabinet, it's about the hardware...in which you need to have legit hardware or you will not be able to run the game.
I know you need legit hardware. I was referring to the one who offered their custom cabinet to put it in. I was wondering if it was possible to put the actual legit hardware in a custom cabinet.

Why do you need legit hardware?

I've seen people play DDR 2013 on their home PC's, something about needing constant internet access for some reason. The dance pads can be connected and recognized as a keyboard if that's necessary, lights operate based on the speakers (sound-controlled), basically if it plays on a PC then it can be put into an arcade, I can even make the coin-slots operate as a keyboard if that's necessary.

I can confirm this. Tulsa's SuperNOVA 2 is pretty much the only damn dance game cab that actually works halfway properly.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Houston needs to revive and bring back the Arcades we all know back in the old days from everything to casual games for the Kids to Music Rhythm and Fighting games along with Racing games and Puzzle games. They should also have one in the center of Downtown Houston or anywhere around Downtown Houston it will totally attract a lot of people if they had one Downtown as a Japanese Theme with those kinda games they will make a lot of money.

You can't run 2014 on a public machine without legit hardware. The providers of the network service will not give you access. The 2013 setups you've seen are for home use only, and are not made to be run in coin mode either.

And if you don't have network access, the game won't boot.

The fact of the matter is that arcades are a business that hasn't particularly adapted well to the changing of the American consumer. The end goal of every business big and small is to make money. I go to my arcade, I'm practically the only person there who plays DDR. Everyone and their screaming brats are playing the ticket redemption games. The consumer loves cheap shiny things, which DDR, IIDX, etc. obviously don't give out. I wouldn't be surprised if the exact opposite happens, in which arcades just continue to slowly disappear and disappear until DDR joins the ranks of those old Atari cabinets in which they become collectors items.

I don't know why people keep thinking arcades can just like pop up again when the whole scene has been dying for years. No amount of new games a niche audience wants is gonna change the opinion of the overwhelming majority of people who don't care about them to begin with. It's sad as hell yeah, but realistically there's not much that can really be done about it.

I m still wondering why if the arcade scene is dead, them why arcade versions of popular mobile games exist?
Why did people still go to Chuck-E-Cheese or Main Evnt?
(Just a question) that's all

Because when developers are offered loads of money to buy the rights for their shitty phone game, of course they'll sell it to them.

Chuck-E-Cheese isn't really an arcade and is honestly aimed at little kids for birthday parties
