There had been an EXTREME cab at a local Chuck E. Cheese-ish place for at least 3 years. As of last January, it was moved to a sort-of arcade machine junkyard area. I was there yesterday, and although I couldn't get a good view of that area, the cab seemed to be gone.
Sidenote: This place also had a Dance Maniax/Freaks machine back in early March 2011, but was removed by the time I came back some 2 months later.

I'd say it depends on a lot of factors... I would take note, but not necessarily panic...
I wonder, on a tangent, if as 3D printing tech improves places could make replacement parts readily, easily, for varying costs? (probably cheaper than getting the parats as they become scarcer)

I'm pretty grateful for that X2 (US) machine that's 20 min away from my house. And 2 4th mix plus ones. And an ITG 2.
There's a Megamix at a movie theater 5 minutes away, but as we all know, they suck
I think it was a PIU cab that used to be in my city, but they shut down the arcade to build a Walgreens
There was another PIU at a nearby Chuck E. Cheese, but kids don't know that you're not supposed to stomp on panels by default, and they broke the heck out of that thing.
And another theater had Supernova, but they closed THAT theater in favor of a newer one that was built, and I have NO IDEA what even happened to that cab.
Yup, my area has lost a lot of machines

I live close to Kon so I know of all the machines in that area. But those places are definitely not a walk down the block.

There haven't been any DDR (or ITG, PIU, etc) machines anywhere near me that I know of in...I dunno, 5 years? It's sad. I miss arcades a lot.
The last machine I know of that disappeared was even upgraded to ITG3 (I think) so there has to be some kind of dancing game community here that I'm unaware of. But it obviously didn't help - not that they could have done much more than they did, I'm sure.

Nearby where I live in Somerset there are 2 Euromix machines, one in a bowling alley and the other in the cinema next to it. The pads need a bit of stamping to react but other than that it works fine and they've been there for years.
In London though there's a small arcade dedicated to proper games which has an X2 cabinet that runs off Stepmania with over 1000 songs and a Dancing Stage Supernova which is good. The Namco arcade though has an X2 machine with unresponsive pads and it sometimes has a black screen error message that appears when you choose a song which really sucks as the arcade owners haven't done anything to fix or replace it.
Here in the UK not many machines I know have been disappearing but you'll be lucky to get a machine that is more recent than Euromix in less busy towns

Locally, my Hollywood Bowl a few years back downgraded a SuperNOVA to a EuroMIX. I was devastated.
But yeah Las Vegas in Soho with their Simply LV cab is amazing, Heart of Gaming has SuperNOVA 2, an ITG dedi and another ITG machine if I remember correctly and Southend's Astro City has DDR 2014 currently running X3, so if you're able and willing to travel places you CAN find some gold. I'm lucky London is just half an hour away to be honest.

Luckily LV is an 8 minute train ride from me so I go when I can but I'm too far from Astro City. I need to find the time to visit the Heart Of Gaming as I still have vouchers from London Anime con and HyperJapan.

I used to be near a few DDR Extreme machines a few years ago; the most notable ones were at Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom in Redlands (They even had 4 machines at one time, right before it was closed, turned into a nightclub, then closed down again for selling alcohol to minors, then reopened with a greater emphasis on the water park side). and there was also an Extreme machine at a batting cage facility in Yucaipa before it closed down 7 years ago.
The highlight of the area was a place called The Bowling Barn, all the way in Big Bear City, which had a 5th Mix machine that was in excellent condition; sadly, from the looks of the pictures of the website, they removed it from their arcade.
The eastern end of the Inland Empire does not have many options anymore when it comes to DDR; there's Round1. but their X2 machine is hardly playable, and then there's some bowling alleys in Moreno Valley and Hemet, but I haven't been to those places, and two of them are running SuperNOVA 1. Outside of those, there's absolutely nothing, and if you're from the Palm Springs/Beaumont/Yucaipa area, it would be quite a long drive to Puente Hills/Lakewood just to play a newer version of DDR. >>

1 at MOSI(Extreme) LONG gone.
1 at Westfield mall (Extreme) Whether this was for Brandon or Citrus, both are gone.
2 at GameWorks (Extreme and SuperNOVA 2 ) Both have been removed, the EXTREME having been sold off to someone and the SN2 down for repair, but unknown as to when the machine will be brought back
1 at Busch Gardens (X2 from what i heard) Still there, not sure if condition is any better or any worse since the last time I played on it.
I REALLY need to update the arcade database in Tampa -__-1 at The alley in big bend road (SuperNOVA 2) Never been to this location so I can't confirm if it's still up and running or what the condition is.

I wish there were more X2 machines nearby me. It's my favourite game but I only one I know that works runs off Stepmania and the proper arcade games are too far from where I live..I just want to play a proper X2 or a newer machine

This is disheartening considering DDR is the one Bemani game that's always seemed to be immune to all these "disappearing acts" the other series' are doing.
That being said, I haven't been to any arcades in a while but last I knew, Disney Quest has one, Celebration Station does, and Beach Gameland has one as well. I haven't been to GameRoom/GameWorks in months but the machine was there last time I went. I sure hope it comes back.

Dunno if this is the best place to ask but the monitor on a local FEC's (part of a chain) SN2 cab is starting to dim. Should I fear that they'll replace it with a billionth ticket spitter?

I can assure you that the X2 arrows stick and they are not responsive.

How long ago was this? Now that I work at the neighboring water park I can easily take a bit of spare time to go check it out. I might also just take one day to drive around Tampa and hit all the arcade spots to see what they have in terms of rhythm games and anything else.Post #59 · Publicado en 2015-05-04 11:24:47pm Hace 9 años

Only machine in close range of me is a SuperNOVA at a movie theater and that one isn't fairly used so idk why the monitor on it has a messed up color palette and that's really the only machine I can think of that's in Chula Vista other than the Brunswick Bowling SuperNOVA.
A Dave and Busters has a SuperNOVA 2 but they moved that to the back so it doesn't get much attention anymore in replacement of the Pump It Up EX (i think) which took its place so I wouldn't be surprised if they sold the machine or just throw it out. (No one really even played it when it was smack dab in the middle)
The Sycuan mall has a DDR Extreme but I rarely go there anymore so I don't know the condition of the machine, last time I went there it seemed perfectly fine but that was when I was starting out and didn't pay much attention to the pad condition and monitor condition of it.
SeaWorld has an X2 that is literally perfection but it's SeaWorld so you gotta pay to get in and pay for the game card in the arcade. Only played it once and it's a dedicab too.
(Fresno)
The Sierra Vista Mall (idk if that's even the right one) has a DDR Extreme, they used to have a Max 2 but that most likely got thrown out. They have a GuitarFreaks and a DrumMania but that DrumMania WILL get thrown out eventually since it's been down last time I went.
Boomers has two Extremes, they rarely get played and aren't in the best shape, the Extreme closest to the entrance has the marquee of a 5th Mix and the pads just suck.
I think Blackbeards has an ITG and an Extreme but I haven't been there for a very long time so they're either still there but in really bad shape or thrown out completely.
(San Francisco)
I went to San Fran once and went to this arcade called Metro or something and they had beatmania and DDR, and quite a lot too but I'm pretty sure it got closed down. I loved that place as a kid and would visit again had they not closed down.
