DDR II has been spotted in the Philippines on DataBlitz (photo taken on SM North EDSA branch) for the special price of 2995 php or
$70 only!!!

I know we here in the Philippines should show our support by buying this (Datablitz after all, offers only legit software and consoles), but unless you're rich, I strongly suggest that you ask your uncles/aunts/grandmothers to just buy the game in America and have it shipped to you. Or buy it online.

And no, this game is bundle only right now.

Question, are Philippine systems NTSC-America? I always thought they were NTSC-Japan...
I just came to say hello.

It's odd that above two games with the NA rating system, you have a Wii GH:GoR with the Australian PG rating. And Australian uses PAL IIRC.

DDR games of US/EU versions are rampant here, whereas JP versions are hard to find (like the case with PS2 games).

Hmm, my dad says our TVs are NTSC American.

For systems, there's nothing stopping us from buying Japanese ones, it just so happened that a lot of people prefer American units because they are easier to understand so they are more plentiful.

But when Sony officially launched Playstation in the Philippines, All of our original games are a mix of US/Asian/EU/and JP
Asian Versions are getting as many. So if ever KONAMI plans to release IIDX on PS3, there's a possibility that the game will make it here.

I remember my dad going there to visit family and came back with a PSX that was technically an NTSC-American but modded to play Japanese games too. Guess that's prolly why I'm asking. Lucky you though, getting the choice between the two.

In other news, I'm wearing a Pacquiao coat right now. Filipino forever haha.

Also, fifth week sales bring up the total to 10,000 copies. Man, this game has some pretty good sales legs Big Grin

Are those sales based off the stand alone product or the bundle? If it's mostly bundle that would be one thing, but as mostly standalone that can't be all that hot as they're not making as much off of those. And if it's mostly Bemani fans buying it, then this game is in trouble once they're tapped out.

The 70$? It's for the bundle. They said they never sell DDR games as Game-only. They still have the DDR SN2 bundle in the 60s-50s.

I have wondered that too. The opening week of 700 (an average of 14 copies sold per state) seems almost impossible to me compared to the DDR 2010 numbers. I wonder if the sales numbers account for both SKUs.

It could be the anti-pop-music backlash, maybe it really is that strong. Or maybe it's just the lack of underground tunage that people love discovering in DDR - IMHO, the Ultramix/Universe series always had the better taste in licenses (Extreme 2 and SuperNOVA 1 nonwithstanding). After what X2 and 2010 was like (especially in that department!!), I can't say I'd blame people from being standoffish, and maybe some are hoping it'll be in their Xmas gifting.

Besides that, there really is a whole freaking LOT of good (oh yeah, and mediocre but very popular) games being released right now. I know just recently I scooped up Dark Souls and Sonic Generations, this week I'm getting KoF XIII (and maybe some more Rock Band tunage, that's about my budget); plus you have Ultimate MvC 3, Skyrim, EveryShooter OutThere 3, Super Mario 3D Land (+3DS there, obviously), and Zelda: Skyward Sword. And that's to say nothing of the indie crowd takeover, too.

There's still hope for BEMANI, though. Gift DDR II to your friend's girlfriend today.

I also think - where SuperNOVA 2 and X2 arcades go, especially - part of it could be our fault for making the game look so freaking scary. I know a fair amount of pro players around here that stick their song selections to only 15's and above, and of at least 3 that simply drill to beat Challenge 17/18s, now.

If there was a strong enough anti-pop backlash, then Just Dance 3 would be feeling it right now, and that's definitely not the case. If you ask me, I wonder just how much of the HP1 and 2 crowd Just Dance really took away. HP3, despite being superior to them both, didn't sell nearly as well and it was to the point where they repackaged the game to the look we have now for it.

It's a real shame, as none of the Just Dance titles IMO are even remotely good. Dance Central, I actually have respect for, but now that Just Dance is multiplatform that too probably just became redundant for a lot of people looking for a quick fix. Also a real shame on the Bemani end since DDRII is one of the best CS releases in years IMO.

I'm imagining for the most part that Wii game sales are down across the board and I understand that music games aren't as popular as they used to be. But according the VG Chartz (which isn't incredibly credible but it is what we got), DDR 2010 Wii sold 20k its first week while DDR II sold 700. DDR 2010 in its 10th week still sold 2k. The numbers just seem wrong to me. Quality of the game or licenses certainly can't factor in as DDR II easily has bigger name licenses (Justin frickin Bieber for crying out loud). October and November always have the biggest releases. This year is no different then last. Maybe I'm just in denial because I will be heartbroken if this is in fact the last home release.

Apparently HP3 was similar to this.

This sounds way to similar to London Evolved at the beginning and end for me to be happy about it. I think this came out first too....Its a good song, but it makes London Evolved seem less special.

HP3 came about at the time of the original Just Dance onslaught and it never quite recovered from it unfortunately. Sad too, because I even remember saying back then that if Konami didn't get it's act together all it would take is a Dance Hero to completely wreck a DDR release. That Dance Hero just so happened to be Just Dance, and while it's gameplay ain't much at all that's not even the point unfortunately. DDR2010 looked to try to counter attack this with Choreography mode, but that'll only go so far when the licenses are some of the worst picks in the history of the series.

It bears saying that most of the songs are classified as Old (Dancing in the Street, Rio, Venus, We are family, etc.), not Really Dance Music When You Look Into It (My Life Would suck Without You, crushcrushcrush, According to You), Not Even Dance Music (I Got You, Need You Now, Missing) and Dance Music (Bad Romance, Animal).

And Bad Romance is not as upbeat than Animal.

Has this been delayed in the UK? Amazon still don't have a photo for it and I notice they've shipped my Sonic game this morning but not Hottest Party 5. Both are due out on Friday.

As for disappointing sales, I agree with what people are saying. DDRII / HP5 is a great game but 19 licenced tracks just isn't enough in 2011 especially when most of them are aimed at teenage girls. They really could do with another ten or so in there. Some dance classics would be good. Heck they could even give us those old PS2 covers like Genie In A Bottle, I Will Survive etc.
