I reckon you should just stick to Dancerush Stardom. This playtest was a failure for sure, and some people want to play other games like this one.

God, this was bleak to read. But I believe it. I can't imagine the money Bemani sank into this game and it's tech, only for it to flop horribly.

That's the tough part about all this. Konami sank quite a bit of money into development, marketing, whathaveyou into this game, a brand new Bemani entry that quite a few were looking forward to, only for it to be an expensive cash grab for families and kids and not for any hardcore and casual fans of Bemani. I wanted this to be a successor to Dance Evolution because I loved that game and during promotion I thought I would be hopeful about it, and for the end result to be something this mediocre and a let down, I'm upset. It also has to do with the growing disdain of hardcore arcades in Japan. They're dying at an alarming rate and arcade owners are scrambling to hold on and most aren't taking gambles anymore with hardcore games for the fans. Most have turned to casual experiences like Dance Around, crane games, redemption and stuff for families which has been reported recently. it's a really sad state of affairs over there and I don't like the look of it. And when you hear that arcade Bemani games you love like Jubeat, Pop'n music and others aren't seen as viable as they once were anymore, it's really disheartening, and you can see it in the content updates too for some games.


I love Dancerush I played it a lot when I used to frequent Round 1 before the Pandemic hit. But even that game is waning too. With the lack of major content updates or even a new version at this point because the game is starting to look a little dated, the popularity has tapered off quite a bit from when it was at it's high point a few years ago. I still support it, I just wish Konami cared enough to give it a lot more content to keep it fresh and even a new version wouldn't hurt either. But it is what it is.

Round1 in Burbank, CA had 2 cabs if anyone in Cali wants to try it.

EDIT: Okay, the game is harder than it looks, but it’s also VERY forgiving. Even when I was doing poorly and just flailing to keep up, I still managed to get 80% viewership to pass. I’m wondering if this is fully an American build, as I noticed the cover of Pretender was missing from the song list.

Maybe, maybe not. I didn’t think of it that way, since they also got Chunithm (offline), Chrono Circle and Tetote x Connect about 2 weeks ago. IMO, I wish Konami would’ve done “DanceRush 2” instead. Outside of needing it for event unlocks (if it happens) I don’t see myself playing DANCE aROUND a lot. One thing I can say, the cabs are MASSIVE!

Moreno Valley has a cab, much to my surprise, and I can confirm that this is a US version since I found the U in the version number thing, and the warning screen mentioned North and South America.

It was.... awkward to play. XD It kinda reminded me of Eyetoy Groove in a way, and the boxes are a lot harder to see than the videos on youtube make it out to be, but it's very lenient; I averaged around 97% on the songs I played. I don't think I'm gonna play it again, though.

Just got the game at my Round 1 in NY a few weeks ago. I love the style of the game and I can't get enough of the characters and art. Meguru and Kyo are well designed and the splash screen is great.
But thats about where my positives end. The game is just not as fun as it should be. Calibration takes a while, the tracking is off most of the time, and my co-workers stood in a single pose and passed a song. Really cool concept gone DOA at least here, as minimal guests play it, regulars or otherwise.
It sucks that im spending more time looking for the main artists of the game instead of playing it.

Yeah, I played this one time and...it just feels like a worse version of Dancerush. The tracking seems to "work", but it's not really tracking your body, just your hands and feet. So you don't even have to follow along to the dances, you just have to move your hands/feet so that they are within the semi-transparent rectangles that appear on screen. You can PFC most songs with very little movement.

I don't see this lasting more than a year.

Dancerush is the better "casual" game, IMO; it's very easy to learn, but it doesn't hold your hand like this game does, and it just works; no calibration needed on the player's part.

Can't wait til this game is in KAC 2023, and the Japanese commentators have to make 2 guys T-Posing motionless sound exciting, complete with canned cheering from the audience.

It's a shame that this won't last more than a year like the others did.

Dancer in the Flare should really be in DANCERUSH tbh, it's a wasted crossover on this game. Especially since there's other DDR songs that fit the mo-cap better.
