The game is too hard...what?

I hope you're not being serious because if you saw the trash that has been released as of recent like Paranoia Revolution and Trip Machine Evolution...you wouldn't think such things about itg.

You're silly.

Just look at Possession, 888, and VD. Why do you all think I was mentioning all of this in the first place?

And, before anything else goes wrong, I'm only here to compare DDR's newest boss songs' Challenge charts to some of the stuff one would find on ITG, NOT to hear you guys rant about how much you all hate ITG and it's community.

right?

Anyway, anyone who's mentioning Votum Stellarum is WRONG WRONG WRONG. I played X2 a few weeks ago at Gameworks & it was awesomely fun.

Worst chart: Arrivals and Departures. It's a good song but the chart is really boring.

To be honest, I'll say that some of ITGs crossover charts go overboard in my opinion (Soapy Bubble, Mythology, and Bloodrush just to name a few), but at least the charts are tough enough to be good practice for DDRs boss songs (for me at least). But I'll admit, Energizer was decent to say the least (it's also the only boss song in ITG I ever passed on Challenge , it's an embarrassment).

Most of "x specials"
A geisha's dream (ruffage mix)
under the sky (ryu remix)
Let em move (the song is beautiful, but I REALLY HATE the steps)
Paranoia Haddes Heavy, Fascination maxx Challenge, I think is an exageration.
Boom Boom Dollar (Also a great song, but the steps are horrible)
Disturbia (I mean, Are you serious? you call that song Heavy "hard"?
Many others, but I don't remember them now..

- Universal concurrence it's horrible.
- Completely unbalanced in difficulty. I love the ending of the song though. Same reason I hate Wicked Plastik.
- I pretty much agree.
- TBH I find PH Standard to be at least as difficult as Heavy if not moreso. The jackhammer pivot jumps are really draining in the Standard chart and the gallop spin in both charts is just stupid. Don't care for Faxx regardless of the chart. Love FELM till the Challenge chart.
- Agree but IMO it gets a pass for being in an early mix.
- Yeah, there are some low-level heavy songs that still make their way into games. They were fairly common up until Max2. Forever Sunshine anyone?

What I liked about ITG's challenge charts was although they could be very difficult Roxor seemed to at least be conscientious of their difficulty. Firstly there was a good balance of 9-13s on the Expert difficulty which was similar to how DDR's 7-9s on the "hard" difficulty was, in that there were more easier charts than (on that difficulty scale) than there were hard charts. despite ITG being touted as the "BIG HARD GROOVIN' GAME", each release only had four 12's, one or two 13's, more 11's than 10's, and more 9's than 10s. Each chart on the higher difficulties also had an interesting twist behind it, such as "Eurphoria"'s 32nd span following the music, Delirium's long 16th run (which was not something really spammed in each song to THAT effect, plus it cpould've been longer IF Roxor exactly followed the song). Aside from a high number of 16ths, each 11+ chart had its own unique challenge to it.

In DDR, our newer boss songs seem to be released all over the place, with sometimes more 18s being created than any other boss tier difficulty. Many 18s don't really follow the music and have placed in them ideas which many players really don't enjoy, such as nonsensical speed changes and stops for the sake of making reading arrows harder, 16th runs which don't really flow, and 18s which peak in difficulty in the end (FAXX, FELM, PLUTO Relinquish), and sometimes notes which go to absolutely nothing (I personally thought this was some kind of reference to older DDR charts, but it could just Konami forcing up difficulty). The problem with 18s is not the difficulty, its that Konami is writing them. A good example would be 888. It is the only 18 which people tend to not trash apart, although that was created by someone who is part of the community, not some random person whos never played the game before.

I thought the crossovers to Sunkiss Drop Heavy were what made it fun in the first place...

I apologize in advance, only because people get butthurt over this, but 888 Challenge is nonsense to me. But then again, a lot of people like bursts? (I have Euphoria in mind, which is very difficult for me).

Yeah, but I think there's a bit too many honestly. Actually it seems a lot like Seule to me, in the sense that it seems to be parodying itself. The crossovers can be fun though

*pbt* 888 Challenge was just KONAMIs attempt at making a DDR version of ReaF Challenge , unless the two just seem to be comparable by coincidence.

"hey knucklehead"
Trip Machine -Luv Mix- Heavy.

They barely go to the song. To me it's like they turned on 8th notes, scrolled down and then placed them at random points. I tried doing something like that and it actually turned out better IMO. Annoyed

At least 888 Challenge doesn't have stupid crossovers, spins, or jacks, (I'm talking to you, PARANOiA Revolution Challenge ). 888 is one of the few 18's that at least looks tempting to try, rather than avoid. PRChallenge is no fun on the keyboard at all; while 888 is loads of fun, because the stepchart's not trash.

IMO, 888 Challenge is one of very few DDR Charts that could challenge the likes of ITG.

Actually If anything it was WINDEU's attempt at making ReaF

WINDEU being the chart maker for Universe 3 (and I believe Universe 2) seems to be something forgotten by the community. It also explains why we had so many challenge charts in Universe 3.

Speaking of Universe 3, Kind Lady Challenge. Damn again WINDEU!

I actually agree with you on 888. 888 Challenge was probably the closest I've ever seen KONAMI get to ITG, after I saw the chart for the first time on DDR Universe 3. I guess it is a bit funny how DDR Universe 3 & ITG Rebirth were released just months apart, and how two of their songs, 888, and ReaF, seem to mirror each other in a way. I wonder if the two have a connection...

Wait, WINDEU made 888 Challenge ? Someone from the ITG community? Made a chart, for a commercial DDR game? But how? How did he manage to become one of the helpers for KONAMI? I know he's really popular and all, but still... I didn't think an outsider was allowed to submit charts for an official DDR game.

I'm calling bullshit. I think the songs would be a LOT more gimmicky if WinDEU really was involved with UNI3.

Wait, what? This is the first I've heard of that.

I remember back in 2007ish Bemanistyle posted a position opening at Konami of America for a step creator for applicants in California (I know bemanistyle is not affiliated with Bemani or Konami, but they posted it from Konami unaffiliated). A moth later the story was followed through that WINDEU got the job. It might also explain the amount of DM Ashura songs in Universe 3 as well. WINDEU was also at one of the locations as a sponsor during the horribly managed US DDR tournament in 2009.

I'm currently checking wayback machine to find the post....
