"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
Download page is here.
This is an awesome procedural/random-generated platforming action game, supposedly based on La Mulana and NetHack. It's also been compared to Mr. Driller and the NES game Spelunker. Fundametally simple in it's execution, but very complex in techniques and strategy, it's a deceptively difficult game. You're going to die a lot when you first begin.
Basically, you're a whip-cracking archeologist (presently unnamed, but most fans call him "Spelunky" or "Indie"... or "Idiot!") who's making his way down an ever-descending mine, collecting treasures and gold, "rescuing" damsels, and killing or avoiding dangerous creatures. You'll always begin on the top of a level, and you'll always be working your way to the bottom of it. There's a lot of depth to the game to explore, and you'll always find something interesting you hadn't quite considered before.
If you've ever played SMB2 (USA), or Donkey Kong '95, you'll be right at home with the way this game handles. Also, this is astoundingly addictive.
The basic jist:
This guy gets a little further. Spoilers! Watch at your own risk.
