If the rest of the games are going to go like this opener, expect all the South American teams to get EVERY 50/50 situation in their favour. The England - Uruguay game is going to be just the most uncomfortable watch.

México won (thank you USA, and good luck, because it won't be easy to score a single goal lol), and I could be happier, if those two goals by Dos Santos hadn't been incorrectly disallowed by the ref (and I don't even want to think about how this goal difference might not allow us to qualify).

Brazil looked weak during that opening game. We have a chance against them if they keep playing like that and if México keeps playing as they did during the first half.

For the next round (that is, if México gets it done), it's over as soon as we know our opponent is The Netherlands.

I watched the England - Italy game in a hotel bar. The MASSIVE cheers from everyone about 3 minutes in when we thought we'd scored, and then the sudden embarassment wave of 'oh shit, we haven't sit down and pretend that never happened' was GLORIOUS.

Still, even though we lost, Uruguay lost harder, which means the group's now wide open. We can qualify, just in second though.

On a different note: CONCACAF teams looking pretty good so far, Mexico/Costa Rica in the Ro16 and USA soon to follow assuming they don't choke this away.

Chile looks like a legit contender, but I have my doubts they'll get any further than the Quarterfinals.

This is the third consecutive World Cup where we get Brazil on Round of 16. I hope the Chilean team will pass, but I have my doubts :/
