The Right side of the x2 is perfect though.
Daiz13 years agoDaiz
I almost stopped by Latitude 30 to play on the X2 there. Glad I didn't. The X2 up here in Knoxville, TN doesn't suffer from the mentioned issue.
AxelWasHere13 years agoAxelWasHere
There is only one X2 machine in Jacksonville Florida and it has the same issue Diaz has.
Daiz13 years agoDaiz
This machine suffers the alleged bad-input-circuit board issue. Before the game starts, left and right on the pad act like left and right on the cab itself, thus, early arrows will change your speed mod until you cannot change the speed mod anymore. Not sure why some machines suffer this issues and some don't, but this one surely does.

For those of you visiting USF or IOA and noticing the pads in a state of disrepair, please find one of the Elaut USA attendants and let them know! They'll be able to let someone know and get it fixed up.

All is explained there, simply the down arrow on the 1P side was very unresponsive during my visit 2 weeks ago.
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
I applied Unlock Levels 1, 2, and MAX during my lunch break today. As well, it appears the pads have been repaired for the time being. Having played on both, I can say they're in optimum condition again for now.
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
I recently discovered the difference between Joint and Doubles Premium. On this X2 machine, Doubles Premium is enabled, meaning you can play a 1-player Doubles game for the price of one credit. HOWEVER, Joint Premium (Versus on one credit) is NOT enabled. The appropriate edit has been made to the machine status.
Aegis14 years agoAegis
If you are getting a lot of misses, then bring it down to Moderate.
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
Updated pad status, bringing the X2's perfect condition down to a good. Getting a lot of misses on the right 2P arrow. Betson pads are garbage. Most folks don't really play here all that often, so these pads will likely be slower to deteriorate. 1P's still in good condition.

To Aegis' comment above: Done.

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It is now worth going to Universal Studios.
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
The DDR X2 showed up about a week ago, and I've confirmed/played on it! Let's hope these guys know how to maintain an X2...
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
Fix photos, keep originals. lol
Aegis14 years agoAegis
Gonna find out and get a job as the picture fixer picture censor guy in attractions like Splash Mountain or whatever.
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
MY MOTHER....actually I dunno. I just get the intel from my friend who works at the parks. =P
Aegis14 years agoAegis
Where do I apply for a job
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
Also, many of the machines will go up for sale at random times for Cast members, for $250 MAXIMUM. Last I checked, they were selling Jurassic Park, an air hockey table, and that Egyptian game in which you fling the sword around...I'm waiting for the SN2 to show up... =)

SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
Well they're not all useful, lol. I'll just post what I know here:

-The hidden cove in Pirates. Hang to the right when you approach the town area, you should either have to destroy a wall to see it, or it'll be visible on its own. Once in there, you'll "teleport" with a white flash, placing you somewhere else on the map. Could simply be an "out of bounds" thing, but it seems like the game is only focused on how long you're sailing before the ghost ship appears, not location.

-In the river rapids ride, in the entry area, there's random balloons that will float by in the sky, some shaped like the Mickey balloons they sell at the parks. My friend insists that there's a place in the middle of the map with something special in it, but I could never figure out the steering in that game. (fun fact, if you don't paddle at all, you'll still move, turn, etc.)

-In the Aladdin ride, your head movements are tracked, so if you look at other players to your side, you'll see their heads move. I recall you being able to make the monkeys dizzy by repeatedly rotating your head.

-Not much of an easter egg, but in the Mighty Ducks Pinball, you can hang out in the lower left corner for a buttload of points.

-In the Radio Disney song maker, during the preview of your final song, you can change the styles, and you will be given the option to use the "Mixed Style" for your CD.

-You can cover up the sensors above the doors in the Buzz Lightyear game, making yourself invincible. (alright I'll admit, this is pretty much cheating lol)

-Again, not much of a trick, but if you make a coaster with loops on Cyberspace Mountain, slower speeds are actually more fun in my opinion. I believe you get the same amount of track (10000 ft.), so you'll get more out of each ride by NOT picking Hang On For Your Life (or w/e it's called).

-Instead of riding the elevator in the entrance, you can request to use the door on the right, taking you to the area with the Let's Go Safari/Jambo Safari games.

That's all I remember for now...I'll post more as they come to mind.
Aegis14 years agoAegis
Send me a pm too. I wanna see they are Easter eggs or not.
Max14 years agoMax
@ Spngefreak, would love to know all the easter eggs in the place (a.k.a send me a PM) :3
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
I'd imagine, but pretty much every one of the "rides" there has some sort of easter egg in it. With the Pirates ride, there's a hidden cove that will teleport you around the map...it's always fun to confuse other families with that.
Aegis14 years agoAegis
this should be in DQ comments, but w/e

The pirates ride and stuff like that get boring after some time.
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
Very true, that or the Pirates ride, lol. My friend's a cast member, so I'll make sure he fixes them right. =D
Aegis14 years agoAegis
Well, if the pads start to suck, you can always resort to play Tron or something.
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
I'll let you know August 21 (when I return) if I get the pass or not. ;D
Aegis14 years agoAegis
If you can get the DQ annual pass like most people who hog the machine that live down there (up there) then do so. Endless freeplay for a year. Access in and out. It's really unique...at least when I had it...
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
An annual pass to DQ is $84 as of a couple weeks ago, exactly 2x a one-day admission. It's about a 30 minute drive for me, but I'd make the trip well over two times, and getting there in the morning would pretty much guarantee the machine being free almost that entire time...
Max14 years agoMax
Yeah, DQ's have all of their arcades in Free Play mode, but paying $35 to $45 for one day is...well, unless you have that much money to spend atm it is quite worth it. I do not know how much it is for a yearly pass for DQ, but it wouldn't matter for someone who lives in Tampa or Miami really :/

Lucky you Surfer_Clock :P
SpongeFreak5214 years agoSpongeFreak52
Wow, there would be 2 (possibly 3 if IOA replaces their Extreme) DDR X2s within driving distance of me then...

I already have an annual pass to U/IOA, but I imagine getting a DisneyQuest one would be more worth it since it's freeplay, no?
Aegis14 years agoAegis
X2 US or X2 JP?
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
Your internetz are much appreciated. That's why it's good to work there...I don't have to have much money to go! :D
Max14 years agoMax
...i would be ecstatic as a giddy school girl right now if and only if this was in Tampa. Going to Universal usually isn't my cup of tea due to money issues atm, but Surfer_Clock, you get +10 internetz for your efforts :)
Surfer_Clock14 years agoSurfer_Clock
Time for another song update and possibly veeery good news rumored!

I spoke with an arcade attendant about a week ago who, in addition to helping me update the song list here, told me of a potentially NEW game coming to this arcade in EX's place. Wait for it...

X2. X2 is looking to be purchased by management and used to replace Extreme. Until I see or hear anything more in detail, please consider this nothing more than a rumor for now.
Aegis15 years agoAegis
Sea World still had their Extreme Cab when I passed by it last time I visited which was like 6 months or so ago.
Max15 years agoMax
Nice...and my bad :P

Don't understand why so many theme parks still cling to older DDR machines, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay STILL has their DDR Extreme cab since...the very first day they were able to get it (they had a MAX2 machine once), and Universal and Islands still have the Extreme cabs (well at least ONE of them does now...)

I have visited other locations and they either have good working Extreme cabs, a SuperNOVA cab, a SuperNOVA2 upgraded cab, and i've heard of Disney Quest and other locations in Florida having X and/or X2 cabs. I don't understand why these major theme parks upgrade EVERYTHING ELSE in the arcade, except for DDR :/
Surfer_Clock15 years agoSurfer_Clock
Oh, no no! I'm no arcade operator...I actually attend to ride lockers. But I do know a couple of the arcade attendants. They usually recognize me as the one who manages to constantly freeze the game. Just an on-again-off-again DDR fan of nearly 8 years and counting.
Max15 years agoMax
@ Surfer_Clock:

This is why we need more arcade operators on this site :3

Glad to have you with us Surfer, and thanks for the seemingly weekly updates on the machines!
Surfer_Clock15 years agoSurfer_Clock
Max: I work for Universal Studios, so I'm able to frequent this location.

Also, minor update. Played 2 other songs that froze, so I've appended the list to add "It's Rainin' Men" and "End of the Century."
Aegis15 years agoAegis
heh, the only reason I play on DDR Extreme is for Holic, Kakumei, Healing Vision, [sync], Abyss, Dead End, and V (for Extreme).
Max15 years agoMax
...would it be possible for them to get newer versions? Anything from SN to X2 would suffice really.

And Surfer, thank you very much for these updates, do you live in Orlando or something?
Surfer_Clock15 years agoSurfer_Clock
I have to add one very, very, VEEEERY important comment now that I've managed to play on it a little more.

Being a much older DDR machine than it might seem at first glance, I can confirm that there are a list of songs that will freeze/lag the machine. When you fail the song, it will re-boot the game, and your credit will be lost. Typically, you can report this to an arcade attendant and they will comp you the credit.

I will update the location information with a list of the songs that freeze/reboot the machine.

I can also confirm that the reason for IOA's DDR Extreme being removed was that, simply, "It wasn't making any money." It probably had something to do with songs starting to freeze on the IOA machine as well.
Max15 years agoMax
Ok so basically Universal Studios is the place for any DDR person to go to get their DDR fix, Islands of Adventures had their's removed for some strange reason.

thanks for the report Surfer_Clock :)
Surfer_Clock15 years agoSurfer_Clock
Quicky update: this DDR Extreme AC is still here, and still has decent pads! Also, all songs are still unlocked.
