Still blows my mind that the Beau replaced SuperNOVA with PIU Prime and then they got rid of it a month later or something. Insane. The Beau used to be my favorite spot to play, the workers in the arcade knew me by name and would bring me water and paper towels and stuff anytime I showed up, just to be nice...but...they were on some BS with the whole DDR to PIU to nothing situation. Well you see, the scene died entirely when they replaced the SuperNOVA machine with PIU Prime because user Pashroot owns a machine so we just privately play here in the comfort of home, and we'd go to the arcade again if they'd actually listen to who were once regulars about MINISCULE changes and steps to provide a better experience. It legitimately angers me that they would get something with so much potential and capability and just shit on the people who want it improved. @zeioIIDX I was just a visitor. I talked to one of the workers there one time and she said the signal wasn't strong enough so maybe you could use a repeater to make the signal stronger and then use a bridge so you can hook it up via Ethernet. I heard it is Ethernet only for online mode but not 100% sure. It is hard to get information about it for some reason since there are very few people English who play PIU Prime in the world. 8 years agozeioIIDX
Wow, I have a degree in computer networking and this is the first time I've heard of that device. Kinda embarrassing, haha. Not sure it would work for the arcade though because they said they just don't have internet in the arcade in any way. I know the casino has wifi but I'm not sure where it's located and whether the signal could reach the PIU machine. Just sucks they seem clueless about the capabilities of the machine and what players want and expect from it. The DDR X in D'Iberville went to crap too because the bowling alley never maintained it. I gave them flyers for DDR X2 back in the day but to no avail. I almost got the bowling alley at Keesler AFB to buy an X2 when they were in talks to build an arcade there but I don't think it ever happened. The best PIU anywhere around here is in Hattiesburg. It's a PIU Fiesta EX and works perfectly. The best DDR machine is the one my friend in Gautier owns in his house. It's loaded up with anything you could possibly want! 8 years ago1stTiger

@zeioIIDX I learned online that you can buy a WiFi bridge that receives WiFi input and lets you hook it up via Ethernet. I haven't tried it yet though. 8 years agozeioIIDX
I agree with everything 1stTiger. This is a brand-spanking-new machine...it should NOT feel this crappy. My group of friends and I have basically pleaded with staff and management at this point to increase the volume and get the machine online. They say they can't put it online because the arcade has no Ethernet ports and the manager apparently wants to leave the volume exactly where it is...defeating the purpose of having a dance game in the first place. We've offered many suggestions to them, none of which are ever taken to heart so I feel like they must enjoy losing customers/money. 8 years ago1stTiger
I wasn't impressed with the PIU Prime there. The volume is way too low and the Alpine Racer, racing games, and gun shooter game near them are louder than the machine. The pads aren't very good and it is hard to register them, especially with freeze arrows. Also, the judgment is difficult and besides full songs, it is game over if your life bar goes to 0. Remember, research how to unlock "full mode" before going since the regular mode is only PIU Prime songs without the hidden step combination. 8 years agoPashRoot

I thought that might have been you, I saw your name on here in the Visitors section and on the machine the tag was Bootsy or Bootswy or something like that lol. You got some really nice scores while you were here! At one point, I had AAs on all the 10 footers and 99s on a ton of stuff but the arcade reset the machine or something and all the scores were wiped. Yeah it's decent enough. I just got home. I've still been able to 99 things consistently and full combo stuff. I play on the 2P side but every now and then, the bottom sensor on the UP arrow kinda craps out but it's rare. Also, choosing Quickening will make the machine freeze a quarter way into the song. Other than that, it's the best machine around here unless you drive up to Hattiesburg to play PIU Fiesta EX at Gattitown. 9 years agoZukin-Man

Ditto, probably going tonight. Actually met a couple Airmen who play the game pretty regularly and just got stationed here. One guy, Votum/DEEERRRP, is pretty much my rival. Real friendly guys, it's nice to have some competition and people to chat with for once. Oh crap...I forgot to put a warning up on here about that song Quickening XD I've played it twice and both times, it locked up on me near the start. My remedy both times was to just go along to left side of the machine and pull out the cord then plug it back in. It's in the top socket. This is the only song to cause the machine to freeze up on me.

The 1P side panels do seem to be working better, I can play Doubles again and managed to get a 9,8xx,xxx on Jane-Jana and CSFIL (Speed Mix). 11 years agoZukin-Man
Went to the Beau for the first time in a couple months.

They replaced my beloved Razing Storm with a Terminator Salvation machine, so I tried it out and everything was fine at first, but the game froze for a couple minutes once a second player tried to join in.

Also tried to get a game of DDR in. I picked Quickening for my first song and I was able to play for about twenty seconds before the game completely locked up.

SuperNOVA no longer has the bold colors affecting the screen. Up arrow on 2P side has the bottom sensor either missing or gunked up which makes it difficult to hit it when playing minimally. The other 3 sensors on the 2P Up arrow seem to work fine. Still can't play doubles too well as the 1P side's Right arrow is still wonky. 12 years agozeioIIDX
SuperNOVA is finally back. The colors on the screen seem to be more bold than before but it's not distracting. Song count has also been increased from 3 to 4! The red-colored Up and Down arrows on the 1P and 2P sides seem to have been replaced. Or at least the decals. The pads themselves still have the same feel and behavior from before as far as pad misses are concerned. 12 years agozeioIIDX

In the absence of the SuperNOVA hard drive, the machine is currently running EXTREME at four songs for a dollar. However, the tech says it will only be there until the SN hard drive comes in, which he says may be in as early as next week.

The pads are permanently lit up, but with the exception of 1P Right, they seem to work great. Also, the screen is off-center, so about a third of 2P's right arrows are cut off by the screen.

The DDR SuperNOVA machine is turned off. Clerk said the HDD was having problems, so it's been sent to NAMCO to fix. They said they don't know when it will be back... 13 years agozeioIIDX
Pads seem better than they used to be. 2P side is very responsive, but 1P side has something iffy going on with the right arrow. Most annoying thing is the fact that the arcade operator cranked the judging difficulty up so by the time you get to final stage, missing a few arrows will make you fail Not a big deal unless you're a newbie or trying to pass the harder songs on Extra Stage.
